Hi, writing from the French Caribbean. I had hip replacement surgery 3 weeks ago. Best decision of my life. The pain is gone. Thanks for the realistic depiction of the recovery process. Good luck to you guys. Bless up.🎉❤

Hi everyone..I'm 58 and just over two years ago in 2020 I had both Hips replaced. There is no quick recovery but work at it every day. I swim, play tennis, lift weights - dead lift and have a more active life then before my surgeries.

GREAT video. The ONLY realistic video I have seen. Mentions cutting toe nails and what not. Thank you for recording and posting this. I really appreciate it!

Thanks for this reassuring video. I’m 52 and had bilateral hip replacement 7 weeks ago. The stiffness is real but I’m back in the gym, traveling, and work. My issues are mainly in the transition from laying or seated to standing then the initial 10 steps. This was a good reminder to keep working the home exercises and manage the inflammation with ibuprofen. I’m better every day but patience is key. Please do a 3 month video too. This will help more people than you realize as most of these videos stop at 2-4 weeks.

Best video on what to expect! I'm at week four post surgery and this video really helped me mentally as I grapple with where I'm "supposed to be" at this point. Thank you, thank you, thank you for explaining the range of possibilities.

Had total hip replacement on my left hip the end of July. Little to no pain. Have had to deal with stiffness more than anything. My therapist has graduated me from the walker to a cane and I am beginning to do cycling (without breaking 90 degree’s)for range of motion and leg presses (lightly weighted) for strength. I will have my 6 week post op in another week. If I could give anyone any type of advice, don’t over do it. You may feel great but take your time to heal. I will start back to the gym soon. Won’t be able to run or jump rope but I’m looking forward to being pain free in my hip. Be encouraged everyone and God bless!!!

Thank you for the great video, I had my right hip replaced on 3rd February 23, all went well, but on the 25 th February dislocated it getting out of bed. Hip Put in again, and started the exercises again from scratch. On the 29 th April 23 got out of the shower, and patted my thigh with a towel remembering the 90 degree, and pop it dislocated again. After consultation with my consultant, and having no faith in the joint, I opted for a Dual Mobility cup being fitted. It is now 3 . 5 weeks after the second surgery, fingers crossed it is sorted now... Things seem to be going well, and hip feels a lot better.
I am now at 8 weeks, and saw my consultant a few days ago, joint checked and maneuvered, working great. Still taking Ibuprofen occasionally, but mostly walking without stick. I have just started driving again, and keep stick in the car, "Just in case scenario". Things going Great Touch Wood.. Back to swimming next week..
Remember we are all different and heal at different rates....

This is by far, the best info video that I've seen. Had hip replacement 7 weeks ago and just wondering if I'm on track for healing. This video is so welcomed! A must watch for all 6 weekers. I am so relived. GREAT info and so well presented!!!!

Can't believe tomorrow will be 6 weeks!! Things have gone well. A couple times there were small setbacks, probably from overdoing things when I was feeling so great, but with a little extra rest and less strenuous movement for a day or two I recovered quickly from those setbacks. I am so grateful that things are going so well. Doing my exercises everyday, slowly adding more walking time in and just amazed at the whole process. Grateful to my surgeon and the whole care team. Wishing everyone here a good, steady, strong recovery!!!

Best decision I have ever made, was to get a complete right hip replacement, and these people are good at what they do!

I just had my right hip replaced. I'm almost 5 weeks post op and I find this video to be very knowledgeable. Thank you Dr. Tomaszewski. I have other issues that are slowing me down, but you hit the nail on the head. I'm right where I'm supposed to be with healing. Again, thank you!

I had THR right hip July 19th...almost 9 weeks ago. Operation and aftercare excellent. Three days later came home and started with terrible nausea which spanned the next ten days. Was too ill to commence post op exercises. Commenced them asp....lower leg from knee down went straight into unbearable pins and needles...no sleep for nights. Had to wear compression socks to eliminate risk of blood clots. Gave me contact dermatitis so off came the socks. Had borderline pressure sore on heel. Right now I have Achilles Tendinitis both heels and possible Peroneal Tendonitis on operated leg. Somewhere along the way I believe my hip is healing, but, no, it’s not all plain sailing for all of us. Without my Christian Faith, supportive family and friends, I don’t know where I would be. God bless all 😀

Really helpful, reassuring post. Thank you - we all need reminding that it's good to NOT RUSH these things. And that stiffness & irritation at 6 weeks is still normal.

Thank you for this truthful account doctor. I watch various videos to help me with recovery. Some are much too unrealistic é.g. dancing after 16 days, horse riding after 4 weeks etc.
This video, in my opinion, is honest, clear, reassuring. I had hip replacement May 27th 2022. Today is 15th June. I can dress myself, slowly and with care. I can prepare breakfast. I walk with 2 crutches, as often as possible. Exercising leg, toes, balance etc as directed. It is not a contest, we all want to regain strength and confidence. This will not happen in a few days. Thank you for your honest account.

I ride for a living. I had a terrible horseriding accident last year. I broke my hip badly, fractured my pelvis on the otherside, broke a rib and had multiple tiny lower spinal fractures.

I had a full hip replacement. I did all the physio I was told to do as well as biokenetics once a week. 1 month later I was back at gym slowly twice weekly Two months after my operation I was back on a horse and increased my gym to 3x weekly.I haven't looked back.
Incase you think im young.... i'm not... I was 61..
All I can say is do the physio, especially in the very early stages. Be diligent, thank the lord you are through the worse part and be kind to yourself.
