Barnstormer 25S Maiden Flight, OS Engine .25 FP

In this video build log series I am building a vintage RPM Barn Stormer 25S RC Plane Kit (or Barnstormer). The RPM Barn Stormer Series RC plane kits were produced by OK Models in the 1980s and are no longer produced. But the RPM Barn Stormer RC kits can still be found on sites like ebay. If you like to fly, build, crash and repair RC planes (Radio Control Planes), I hope this video build series will be informative, interesting and maybe entertaining.

In this video I take this plane out to the RC air field for it's maiden flight. It's always a challenge on an RC Plane maiden flight and hope that the plane has been built and set up correctly. Otherwise the maiden flight could become a maiden rc plane crash. Turns out the flight was a success and the plane flew great. It was nicely balanced and needed on a few tweaks to the aileron and elevator trim settings. I used a master airscrew 10-5 propeller on the OS max engines .25 FP which ended up being a little too slow. In future flights I will try a 9-7 or 9-8 propeller. The only problem I had with the flights was the video recordings. The camera was not positioned right so I missed some of the action. But I did provide some good clips and freeze frames of flybys.

I have been building, flying, crashing, modifying, and repairing radio control planes for many years and enjoy sharing what I do with the radio control plane community. I fly with Futaba radio equipment, OS Max engines and Saito engines and typically run Morgan Omega and Powermaster glow fuels. I fly ARF rc planes, but I also really like to build rc plane kits.

I don't usually comment as I watch different builder videos and it's the little details that make the build interesting. Often so much is skipped to make short segments those details are eliminated. You hardly ever see the installation of the electronics or engine with fuel hook up. All in all an enjoyable build that I picked up a few new ideas.

Nice airplane. I had one 30 years ago, with a O.S. 25SF ABC. I like the simple construction and size. I managed to get hold of all the models on Ebay. Thats the TMG(10-15 size glider), 15T, 25S, 25L and 40L. I have build the 15T with a FS30 surpass. Nice plane, but has flat wing, lacks aileron and not that fun to fly. Next one I build will be the 25 or 40L. I also agree with you on the FP series. Have all the sizes except the 60. So easy to operate and powerful enough for this kind of plane.

Caro amico, congratulazioni per la realizzazione del modello, e per il volo, sono felice per te, i tuoi video sono lunghi quanto basta per apprendere la tecnica di costruzione, per le persone che iniziano sono molto utili ed insegnano tanti segreti, per altre persone che gia' conoscono la tecnica possono sembrare un po' piu' lunghi, ma credi che sono fatti molto bene e ce' solo da ringraziarti . I really liked the level of detail on this build. Hi am building a Sig Kavalier kit I bought in the 80s and it has been since then that I did any building. I took a 40 year hiatus from flying. Retired now so looking forward to building and flying again. Keep it up. Great channel.

Thanks for such a comprehensive build series. I’m just getting into the sport and after watching this series, I was browsing eBay and ended up getting the TMG version which will be my first build. This series will definitely help out! Also just scored a Das Box Fly 20L from eBay which is almost identical to the 25L?
