The Venus flytrap (Dionaea muscipula) is a carnivorous plant native to subtropical wetlands on the East Coast of the United States in North Carolina and South Carolina. It catches its prey—chiefly insects and arachnids with a trapping structure formed by the terminal portion of each of the plant's leaves, which is triggered by tiny hairs (called "trigger hairs" or "sensitive hairs") on their inner surfaces.

Pretty much everyone else noticed it too but cutting the plant out of the dirt and having it fight mealworms is about the same as giving a man a spear, shield, and plate armor, then chaining him to an anchor and sinking him to the ocean floor to fight a giant squid.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that plant was done wrong.

As a lover of growing Venus flytraps I'm horrified that someone took such a magnificent specimen and condemned it to death there was zero chance of it surviving

I'm so happy that almost everyone here rooted for the flytrap

I've never been so sad for a plant

Man I really wanted to see a venus flytrap somehow eat ten thousand meal worms, though.

It looked like the venus fly trap needed water not only survive, but to thrive amongst the gang of mealworms. It was dry and outnumbered. It probably died of thirst before it died of mealworms. 🙏🏽🕊️🥺

This is sad. Even though it looks small, a Venus Flytrap at that size would have taken years of tender loving care to grow.

I hate how YouTube always recommends the worse content when you’re searching something not even related.

This was the equivalent of making a single angry smoll chihuahua fight a beehive trapped in a small room

I don't understand the thought process behind this person's mind. If you know how long each trap takes to digest an insect how do you expect it to stand a chance here? Of course the poor plant will get eaten before THOUSANDS of worms do. Also it's even less fair for the plant when most of its traps were already closed from the start

This wasn't an experiment! THIS WAS MURDER!

This person knows how to bread mealworm but probably has no idea how difficult it is to grow a venus fly trap

Considering flytraps get their energy from light and water and not the bugs they eat, this wasn't really a fair fight.
