The smoothest sweep possible is Spring Drive, because it literally does not tick! It is moving forward constantly but is being "braked" by an electromagnetic force generated by the escapement.

Are solar powered and eco drives, just quartz movement that are powered differently, instead of just using a normal battery ??

A lot of automatics do have the ability to hand wind in addition to the automatic winding, helps to start your watch to wind it up most of the way when it's stopped after not wearing for a while, as the accuracy is worse when the spring isn't wound up very much.

The precisionist movement is very accurate. Mine has only gained 1 second in 8 months. Only the spring drive has a smoother movement.

Grand Seiko Spring Drive is hands down the best movement on the market. Nobody can touch it. Aesthetically very pleasing and super accurate. The best budget movement is Bulova’s Precisionist. Rivals Grand Seiko but at a tenth of the cost and the smooth second hand movement is cannot be touched by even top luxury brands like Rolex, Omega or even heavy hitters like AP or Patek. Only Grand Seiko is smoother. Precisionist is also accurate to within 10 seconds per year. Grand Seiko + - 1 second a day.

If I'm not mistaken, Seiko Elnix back in the day uses something called electronic movement. I thought it was the same as quartz but realized it has balance wheel. Can any one help to explain it better?
