Collecting Aphonopelma hentzi from the wild

Video from a tarantula hunting trip in Northern OK with my friends Austin and Gage. I kept one juvenile female and gave a juvenile male and another adult female with an egg sac to my aunt.
**For anyone concerned about collecting spiders from the wild read below**
The link below shows exactly where these spiders were collected. As shown, the land is next to a new housing development. Roads cut by tractors can be seen where we collected. It's just a matter of time before this land is dug up and paved over to make room for humans.

The spiders we collected will be kept by responsible, well-informed keepers and the babies released far from any human habitation.
The species is very prolific in the wild and is secure.

Hopefully I'll get to experience Ts in the wild someday lol

These spiders are also probably hungry given how quick they came out of their burrows from sticks

I live in Texas and I plan on collecting me one as soon as breeding season starts. Oh how I wish for an egg sack ❤ So how many babies were there?

Ok looks like mine still has a bit to grow. I would eventually release some back into the wild perhaps (would breed at some point).

I'd like a young adult. But how much do you sell them for. And where do I pick it up if I could?

Some good bloodlines going Lol! Wild catching Ts can be good or bad. The good part is you get to diversify their gene pool in the hobby. The bad part is over hunting. Am not the type who would bash on collectors, but i would if they're overdoing it. Never ever reveal your secret spot to prevent others from imitating..

I'm wondering is there a risk driving a shovel straight to the ground not knowing the tarantulas in the spot you're shoveling instantly splitting them in half

I know this video is old but at what time of the year is it best to find them?

Looks like a lot of fun! Wish I could do that here, but Canada doesn't have any T's that I know of. Lots of scorpions, a folding door spider, some rattle snakes, horned lizard and other assorted reptiles. We even have a boa constrictor(rubber boa) that is native to BC and down the west coast through to Oregon I believe. But no T''s I am sad to say.

Is it possible to find here in the philippines? We'll be doing some search on monday. Hopefully we can get some tarantulas, we'll do it on mountains. 😀 I love spiders, especially this one!

Who criticize it, is being very hypocritical, because they buy spiders collected in Asia and South America without giving a hoot.

how long does it normally take to tease them out like that?
