I just received my OK brown for my birthday. Talk about timing! I look forward to my wee sling growing up and showing me that beauty.

Beautiful A. hentzi, one of the few NA Aphonopelma I really want to own at some point, along with chalcodes and moderatum. Stay safe and thanks for sharing :)

they are also found as far north as missouri. had my sling for little over a year and it's barely grown at all, but other than that it's a decent species/genus. aphonopelmas are underrated. just wish they would grow faster.

I live here in Texas and they are all over my yard and around my city parks. They can get pretty damn big and are pretty feisty lol.

I had two at separate times. I caught one at my friend's front porch because he was very afraid to come outside. When I took it home, it escaped! The second one, I didn't have a habitat for it and i thought it would be okay to share a habitat with my g. pulchripes, and the next day i checked on them, my g. pulchripes killed it or (ate it). Lessoned learned!! Definitely keep them separated.

Down here on the Oklahoma/Texas border, you see these a lot, especially during mating season, the males will be out and about.

The very first T I ever had was an A. hentzi I caught in my kitchen when i lived in Arkansas. Was a juvenile/sub adult. Kept it for a few weeks in a big pickle jar, then let it go. I had no clue about them or what species it was.
I just purchased an adult female last night, but now I live in Washington. Great video.

I'm not sure if I found that spices, but I was walking my dog one evening and I saw something dark run across the sidewalk... Lucky I had a flashlight and I started looking for whatever it was in the grass. I eventually scanned back to where I thought I saw it and I found a burrow next to the sidewalk. I never got to see it outside its burrow so idk.

i heard that the northern aphonopelmas are getting a new genus soon, and that the true aphonopelmas (from central america, like seemani) will remain aphonopelma. thoughts on this anyone? what would be a good new genus name for these northern aphonopelmas? i really hope it's not some native american word like tlitocatl.
