When you really think about it Vegeta is the only DBZ villain turned hero who we know canonically killed people. I know he was a slave to Frieza, but nobody forced him to kill that planet of bug people or all those Namekians. He even took pleasure doing so and, unlike some people might say about Goku, he actually abandoned his family to go train. Tbh Vegeta is an actual terrible person and every victory he was cheated out from can be the universe punishing him in the worst way possible, destroying his pride.
