Looking back, I like Thor's overall story arc the most. We see him go from cocky and arrogant, to humble, to vulnerable, to suffering depression, and PTSD. All of that, and Mjolnir still deems him worthy. Then by the time he encounters Thanos again, then it's rage, and when Cap picks up Mjolnir, it's acceptance and peace.

Some people don't realise that the actual reason he was struggling is because he wasn't strong enough. Hulk's strength increases with his anger and the MCU is always very sure to add that detail. Go back and watch Hulk fight Hulkbuster or Thor in Thor: Ragnarok. There's always a point where his anger increases and he starts to whoop them. This version of Hulk is by far the smartest but also the weakest.

Theory is that the reason Hulk was in so much pain here is because he was also trying to wish Natasha (Black Widow) back. It is against the rules (esp against the Soul Stone) so the stones were punishing Hulk for it. Iron Man did not experience this pain upon wearing the gloves because he, in turn, was not wishing against those rules.

This should’ve altered the balance Bruce created with Hulk and it should’ve triggered back the Savage Hulk. The gauntlet exudes so much gamma radiation that it should’ve done that
