Hyperfocus is also sitting down to a project at 9am and getting so transfixed that suddenly it's 10 pm and your tummy gurgles wake you out of your stupor and you realize you haven't eaten, hydrated, or gone to the bathroom all day

Disorganisation is better than organisation because if you put things away and out of sight you'll just forget where you put them.

Someone once gave me a “tip”- don’t put the washing in unless you know you’ll be around and available to hang it out when it’s done. I smiled and said thanks but inside I had a very clear moment of “oh wow, we are not the same”. How on earth would I know what I’ll be doing in an hour? And I have to carry it in my head for AN HOUR?

Now I’m older I know any tip that translates as “just behave as you don’t have ADHD” isn’t helpful.

Omgsh the last one about the film and then maniacally researching everything about it! No one has ever touched on that! I never realized that was a hyperfocus action I was doing. Just knew it was something I wanted to NOT do, but couldn't help myself. Thank you for bringing that awareness to me❤

Fun fact if you put a splash of vinegar in your wash ( just directly on your clothes) before you start the wash, it’ll prevent the moldy smell from forming, so if you forget the wet laundry in the machine for a day or two, you won’t have to rewash it!

The researching part!!!! When you want to prolong the happiness you get from something you liked and are also just obsessed with the subject! It happens to me with movies, books, music, news, art and any subject that I suddenly find interesting, even when I have other things I was working at the time.

Holy Fuck and OMG!!! Your Hyper focus was mine last night! I watched 3 free documentaries on Freddy Mercury/Queen, bought way too many Queen albums on iTunes, and then purchased the movie, Boheman Rhapsody on Amazon prime and watched that. Then I hit the interWeb and researched Zanzibar because it looks so beautiful & decided that my next pet will be named Farouk because that’s Freddy Mercury’s real first name. BTW, After watching scads of video clips of Freddy talking, I was tickled to hear how he still had the slightest accent from living in Zanzibar. I change my mind, my next pet will be named Zanzibar Farouk. Zanzi for short. That is all.

Your videos got me to talk to my doctor, and she's sending me for an ADHD screening. I might finally have an answer for the parts of me I never understood. Thank you. ❤️

I don't forget to take the laundry out but it does take over my day planning as if it a was a job interview

I LOVE when my bf hyper focuses sometimes because he takes me with him. I learn about space, roller coaster accidents, how to make food, what’s going in China lol

Yes! It's always when I'm running late😅 when I'm in this state, my belt loops seem to get caught on things as well.

Well on number 4, at least we know a whole bunch about so many random topics that can help in so many areas of life! If we don’t forget of course..

I just found out I have ADHD after spending my whole life thinking I was just a useless human who couldn’t get my act together. I wish I had known sooner. And I wish my parents had realised instead of making me feel so bad when I’ve been trying so so hard all this time.

I spent years denying I had ADHD but it was only after being diagnosed (whilst actually being assessed for ASD 😅), that I realised I had put loads of coping mechanisms in place to avoid the problems in this video. For example, I only have 1 handbag & everything stays in that bag, or I am fastidious about storage spaces and everything having its own "home".

I never associated it with my adhd when I watch a movie based on a true story or a person, then start researching about it. I always thought it was just me being a weirdo, but it makes so much sense now 😂 this channel is such an invaluable resource, you have helped more then 98% of drs and therapist's

I learned long time ago that I need to have an organized place and a 'home' for every item, and that I need to note EVERYTHING down. I note all the tasks for the day, even the obvious things like washing myself or breakfast, it somehow frees my mind. And it's not easy to keep a clean space but that's why I needed a system and it actually causes me much more stress when it's messy, to the point I can't do anything because it's too much overwhelming. I still have problems with time/perception of time, haven't solved that yet.
