I just bought a dope rope on your recommendation! I’m 50 and picked up a jump rope for first time in years. I’ve been following you for a bit. You’ve inspired me to start learning your footwork. So excited and feels good to challenge myself. Will probably be buying the mat soon too. Thank you for sharing all the tutorials

I just want to thank you for the two intro long-form VODs. Thanks to your channel, I just bought my first beaded rope and know how to size it. I'm 60 and am very much looking forward to being able to video my very first crappy running man and a shuffle or two. And, thanks to you, I'm going to be very careful of taking care of my feet, shins and knees. Your jumping shorts are an absolute JOY to watch! I confess that I watched the very first short because, well, you're a pretty, fit young lady. A few shorts later and I was completely addicted to watching your footwork. Thank you for introducing me to a world of which I was completely unaware.

Hi. I have been a specialist in internal medicine in Germany for 30 years. I am additionally a doctor for prevention, nutritional medicine, sports medicine and have trainer licenses for competitive triathlon and perform performance tests on professionals. I myself have completed all distances in triathlon for 30 years with great success ( at least 20 hours of training a week). Qualifications for world championships, also Hawaii....I want to say that I know a little about sports. But for your achievement I have a huge respect. I admire you. You're not just a beautiful woman. You are incredibly consistent and have trained brutally for years to achieve these fantastic feats. That commands a great deal of respect and admiration. You smile on every one of your videos. It's a dream. It looks so easy. But I also know your videos from the beginning of your training. Thank you! I started working out with another YouTuber, Caroline Girvan, at the onset of the pandemic and have never stopped. Per your inspiration, I’ve been adding 5 minutes tabata intervals after with a jump rope. Yup, my rope was too long. Towards the end of the intervals, I was starting to trip up. Adjusting to a shorter rope length has made a huge difference in getting through this cardio blast. Bless you for sharing your journey. I look forward to getting better, stronger and building more endurance with your lead. At age 64, working out makes all the difference. I ski better now than I’ve ever skied in my life. Stronger, smoother and non-stop.

This is the best rope length video I’ve seen! I’m in the process of experimenting with shorter ropes and it’s pretty frustrating. Thanks for the thoughtful explanation!

I started with a rope that was 9’3” (3 feet longer than my height) just before Xmas. Now I’m at 8’3” with the aim of getting to 8 feet dead. The biggest help for me is drilling my technique in a mirror to make sure I’m balanced/even. It took me a while to get used to it but feel much more comfortable with the shorter length, less tripping.

Need to properly start working on foot work though ...

Beyond brilliant explanation and DEMONSTRATION🙌🏻. In rhythmic gymnastics it' s long until armpits just because we have to jump through in split and middle split so it needs room for our both insane long legs extended. Your iliac crests length makes total sense!! Thank you soooo much! 🧛🏻‍♀️🖤

I’m new to jump roping and I purchased a crossrope set based on their sizing guidelines. I bought a large being 5’11 and I immediately felt it was way too long so I exchanged for a medium. I still felt even that was too long!

I ended up buying an adjustable rope to experiment and learned that I could actually manage with the extra small rope from cross rope which is 7’6” long.

So for me at least I need 3 sizes smaller than their recommendation suggests.

I find it easier to jump with a shorter rope already and figure I may as well learn with better form from the start.

The rope length you settled with being 1’8” more than your height plays out on my case basically as well. The extra small crossrope is 1” short of that but hopefully it will work out ok and I’ll keep my beaded rope and pvc one as well for options.

Thanks for the video! Definitely the best one I’ve seen for proper sizing. I’m very surprised so many people recommend such a long rope to people. I could hardly jump with it. Best!

Thanks for this amazing video, i've been jumproping for half a year now and only for a month i'm trying to do some tricks and footwork, which is going well with a long rope.. but now that i want to increase also the speed i figured out that i need a shorter rope for that. Really frustrated because I had the feeling i was a beginner again and have to learn everything again.. good to know that you had this same stuggle in your Journey and look at what you are doing now! Big inspiration to continue and try to improve my technique with a shorter rope. Thanks!

Outstanding advise thank you. Complete beginner and have 2 very cheap plastic ropes and one off eBay that is very thin plastic coated metal rope. Not the best but I have to start somewhere. With the cheap plastic rope, I saw your other video and suggestion with starting with a "beaded" rope. I went to a local hobby craft shop and bought the little plastic beads and put them over the cheap plastic rope, to add weight. I am just starting and do it slowly, so committing to 10 jumps a day for a week, before I move to 20. Start slowly and build up, as in my late 50s.

There's a rule of thumb I heard about somewhere, on how to determine the length of your skip rope is near ideal: Hold the handles normally in both hands and put your foot at the middle of the rope, as to divide it into two equal lengths. Now stand upright and lightly stretch the rope from your leg completely vertically and observe the height that the top of the handles reach. If they are more or less level with your armpits or just below your shoulder caps, the length is close to ideal. It always worked very well for me so I suspect it works for most people.
