Since I am a very Impatiant, I upgraded my 8 Core i7 7820x to a 16 core i9 7960x (thank you ebay :D)
I know its not the newest CPU on the market but still kinda head to head with the Ryzen 16 Core CPUs
(also I dont have to money to switch my complete platform to a new expensive CPU)

Rig:
CPU: see video
Ram: 64gb DDR4 3200Mhz
Storage: SSD
GPU: 1080Ti

In the video you can see the result between them two.
I'd like to know your oppinion...is 8 core enought? What are your rocking?

Upgraded from i7 4700mq to Ryzen 3950X, it's not just night and day, it's an Interstellar journey and I love it.

i7 7820x all cores run at 3.6GHz: ~50
i9 7960x all cores run at 2.8GHz: ~38
🚀after overclocking
i7 7820x all cores run at 4.6GHz: ~36
i9 7960x all cores run at 4.3GHz: ~19
👍good news: reduced compilation time
👎bad news: need liquid cooling

Hello dude, Thank you for video I have a question. My building time get me 10 minutes with 8GB DDR4 Ram. If I upgrade my Ram 8GB to 32GB Can I get faster bulding time or not happend? Thank you 🌹

Hi! Did you try to use shader compilation fix? By default, UE4 generates "shader compiler workers" with low priority and this drastically decrease compiling perfomance (but I/O in safe zone though).
Anyway, thank you. I'm in "choosing rig" mode and your video gives very good intuition about cpu and ue4 relations: more cores is better than clock speed.

hi there I am quite new with this program and I wanted to know if there is any option to make it work with my gpu instead of my cpu for the Shader Compile Worker, in blender I know it allows you to do so.

is it possible to reduce somehow the number of shader permutations not to compile 500 when 5-10 is enough?
