Feeling the sand on his body as he lay on the shore, Pierce Loveland closed his eyes and shivered at the waves reaching up to his knees. He knew he would always spend the rest of his life in Caswell Beach, North Carolina the day he jumped off his Land Rover at his graduation day. It was everything she and Daphne ever wanted their home to be built in. He suddenly smiled at the thought of her. She has been the best thing that has ever happened to him. Falling in love with his housemate was out of the blue. She was a damsel in distress and he was the rogue who brought the happiness in her black and white world. They brought the best in each other. That is, until she left him three years ago. She no longer existed but she never left Pierce's thoughts. The one thing he remembered most about her was she loved the sea. She made him feel the same thing about it and now that she was gone, his life depended on it. It was his life now.
As the waves left his bare legs, he managed to stand up and watch the sun reveal itself. As the rays of it spread through the sky, he reminisced the smile curving up in Daphne's face as he pulled a ring out of his pocket and asked her to spend the rest of their lives with each other. She was occupying the other room in the beach house Pierce was staying in. They met in the kitchen every morning, living room at evening and they ended up finding each other at night in their dreams. He loved her dark hair and pale face which then turned to tan after living beside the sea for a year, the way she rolls her eyes at his pessimism and the fact that her smile eats her face every time. He then felt the trickle of sweat in his forehead and he felt the urge to lie again in the sand after having his morning run for an hour. Just as he was about to do so, he heard Hachi bark from behind him. He motioned the St.Bernard to come to him and it did in a fast pace. He struggled not to fall down as it invaded his arms. Hachi was one of the memories Daphne left for him and he made sure it was taken care of.
"Good boy, Hachi." Pierce muffled the the dog's head. "How does hot dog sounds for breakfast?" He smiled mischievously as the dog jumped up and down around him. "A simple nod could have been enough." He sat down again on the sand, making sure the waves could only reach the lower part of his legs.
"You know, I still miss her. I know it's been three years and all but i still do...each minute of every day. It hurts just like the moment when she finally let go. It never fades away, just like her memories." He mumbled to the sea, more than he mumbled to Hachi. "I love you and I miss you more than ever, Daphne."

Maxene Debell slipped of her aviator and tilted her head, followed by squinting her eyes as she studied the beach house in front of her. She clutched at the Last Will in her hand which was left by her God Father who served as her father for the rest of her life.
"Oh, pop. Why do I have to live here before I get to see your final gift?" She babbled as she kicked the door of her top down. She opened the backseat and pulled her bags. The sun has just risen and she was pretty sure her housemate was still asleep. And she has a housemate! She screamed to herself. She only hopes she could get along with the GIRL. She climbed the stairs to the front porch and sat at the highest step. She squirmed as she flipped open her iPhone and saw Blake Lerman on the User ID. Apparently, her pop thinks he's the one for her even though she hasn't met him yet.
"Hello?" She choked at the word.
"Hey, Maxene. It's Blake. Have you arrived at the beach house yet?" He asked with obvious enthusiasm.
"I just did, Blake. But it seems isolated." She looked around as if to prove it.
"I'll come by before I get to the shack. Don't worry."
"Yeah, sure. Thanks...even though you don't have to. Really. I think I can wait for the door to open up."
"Pssh. I don't mind. Besides, my grandma would kill me if I don't. She thinks I'm going to marry you someday."
Maxene sighed. "And so does my pop. He left me a letter saying he found the greatest guy on Earth. Seriously. What is up with the old crew?"
Blake laughed at the other end of the line. "I guess I'll have to prove myself to you?"
"You should." She laughed back."So, I'll see you later?"
"Actually, I'm driving there now. Maybe you'll see me in like 5 minutes?"
"Great." She mumbled as she hang up. She shut her eyes as she tried to control the dizziness. She was taking in the moment when she felt a wet thing lick her toes. She stood up with wide eyes and a shriek. "For the love of God!"
