To me personally, Pincus has seemed to talk down to most people in the 2a community. Like he was better or smarter. For a long time Pincus has rubbed me wrong.

A couple of observations:

1) I disagree with expanding background checks. Less than 2% of criminals firearms come from private sales. 8% come from FFLs - and yes, they are saying that ATF needs to actually do their job and go after them. As pointed out in this video, no new laws needed. That said, 90% come from illegal sources, with straw purchases and illegal dealers (NOT FFLs!) accounting for nearly 2/3! Expanded background checks are a solution in search of a problem.

2) Re: Dan Gross. To be fair, this guy has come miles toward the pro-2A position. He is not there yet by any means. However, if you read what he says carefully, he opposes gun bans, which would include an assault weapons ban. He also appears to oppose both background check bills passed by the House. His former friends are likely not happy with him. I call on him to make it absolutely clear where he stands on every bill before Congress.

3) They clearly favor the "Joe Manchin" background check bill that has gone nowhere. This proposal would allow the sales of a firearm to anyone you know (and yes, the devil is in this detail) without a background check. Rob has talked about sweetening this deal by legalizing transfers across state lines. IMHO, this is not a good deal. Throw in national reciprocity and I'll think about supporting it as a true compromise in which we actually get something of value. However, while Dan Gross MIGHT go for this, the rest of the gun control lobby won't.

Now, I leave it to you to decide if we all should "cancel" Rob Pincus over this. I won't be doing so. I will argue with him, but also recognize what he is and is not proposing. I wrote this post:

Ha! I just found this. I can think of a couple others like Rob. I like to call them the Used Car Dealers of the firearms world.

There is another one I won't name but sounds like Massage a Boob. These people have been writing bogus articles in gun rags since before the internet. It's amazing to me how they manage to stay in the limelight.

Most people saw through them back then but a lot of people are new to their antics.

That had to be the slimiest piece of self marketing PR that I've read in some time. Who **really** wrote &/or contributed to the article? Since he had to know he'd alienate firearms owners as a whole (imploding his instructing business) what other revenue stream is he counting on?
