Good for Simone. Skinners comments were disgusting, the gymnasts on the team all worked hard, came back from emotional and verbal abuse, kidney disease, self doubt and attended college. That's hard hard working, dedicated. Plus Skinner was a sloppy gymnast who never should be speaking about clean gymnastics to anyone

basically she called everyone on Team USA besides Simone lazy and weak. She is from the era when they abused gymnasts and she said if you are not being abused, your coach is too soft on you.

When she says "besides Simone". She completely ignores Suni Lee. Who btw got GOLD in the same Olympics she competed in. Last I checked, it was Suni Lee not Skinner who was the All-Around champion in 2020...You don't win by not being tbe best

Am I remembering wrongly or did 4 out of those 5 girls in the team had already competed against Skinner and beat her multiple times???... No, I'm remembering correctly. She's lost to all of them.
Also it's crazy that she would call "lazy" someone else when she would not even take the time to properly stretch.

I think some people in this country are so used to getting their way, that when they see someone with a different skin tone do something better than them, they crash out.

And you can’t really blame them. Imagine spending your whole life believing that your race makes you inherently more superior to other people, then you figure out that concept has no basis in reality and you’re really just a normal person. Your entire perception of the world and your place in it basically comes crashing down. I’d go crazy too.

I dont understand why MyKayla would say something like that....there are scenarios where you make mistakes and say something that should have been phrased differently but this wasn't the case - she wasn't talking without thinking, she knew exactly what she was saying. Her comments were blunt, straight forward and just overall rude and insensitive. I mean, she really thought she could bash these girls like this and get no backlash? I honestly think she's bitter and jealous because she didn't have the same success as some of her teammates and made the choice to retire.

They said the blacks were lazy after slavery was abolished. So, as long as you are working for free, you are a hard-working part of the plantation! The use of the word "lazy " is a dog-whistle and it was used as such. Imagine how her platform would've blown up if Team USA had lost! Wow! She would have one of the biggest vlogs on the internet!
