Definitely considering a wrap. Love the idea of protecting the factory paint while trying on a new style

There is much more to this than the weight of paint and wrap. Though wrap does weigh less than paint, the difference for some may people be negligible, while for others they are trying to save every pound they can.

The following are the valid points made about wrap.

1. Wrap takes less time than paint.

2. It is more cost effective.

3. It has less emissions.

4. You can choose nearly any color under the sun and temporarily change the vehicles color while maintaining the original factory finish.

5. You can achieve finished like brushed metal, chrome, carbon fiber.

6. It does weigh less than paint.

7. Wrapping a newer car will in most cases preserve or enhance the resale value.

8. Wrap has limitations to what can be wrapped. Complex shapes and surfaces are more challenging than painting.

The following are valid points made about paint.

1. It costs more.

2. It takes more time.

3. It has harmful emissions

4. You can not paint textures such as carbon fiber or brushed metal

5. It weighs more than wrap (may not be much but it's a fact)

6. A gloss finish in the paint itself can be much nicer than the gloss finish in the wrap itself.

7. Painting a newer car will in most cases lower the resale value as people will assume something happened in an accident

8. Paint can reach places and go around things that wrap can't.

Love you Channel! Respectfully, as a restoration, collision, refinisher with over 30 years experience, the weight is a non-issue. You far overstated how much product is needed for a paint job and a lot of the product does not make it to the vehicle, it gets lost as overspray and also solvents evaporate after application. Trust me, weight is a non-issue as far as refinishing is concerned.
Peace...

This is an okay video, I just want to know an average cost for a wrap vs. Paint job

I have a 73 Charger that I am going to wrap in piano black, I have it black already and I want to be able to easily change it later. To me, the wrapping technology brings a new way to rapidly change the look like a new suit and have a great effect. I restore cars and the paint aspect is by far the most dreaded aspect of it. You make a lot of great points in this video. I am convinced that this is a great alternative.

A gallon of paint, 12 lbs. After drying, probably 3 lbs. Love your wraps though ! :)

I love the paint on my car and take great care if by washing by hand and applying a goo sealant. Once I see the paint chipping or scratches from road grime then a wrap is what I’m doing. Something unique that is not even offered as a paint on OEM cars.

Couldn’t agree more! It makes zero sense to paint any newer car unless it has body damage.
Now to wait for all the people that say they can get perfect paint jobs for $1500...

It cost $2000-$10, 000 to get your car wrapped and this dude just said it is only temporary! My uncle has a lowrider which he had before I was born and it still have the same candy paint with no blemishes from the early 80's. What wrap will last that long? This video is biased asf, and it dont cost no damn $20, 000 to paint a car!
