Svetlana Yuryevna Zakharova (born 10 June 1979 in Ukraine) is a russian prima ballerina. She debuted with the Mariinsky Ballet in 1996. Then after a long career full of success, she became prima ballerina with the Bolshoi Ballet and an étoile of the La Scala Theatre Ballet. She's absolutely one of the best ballerinas in the world. Beautiful presence and incredible technique are what make her so special.

When I watched ballet in TV, it was (almost) always Svetlana Zakharova. I love her in Swan Lake very much and also in Sleeping Beauty, but especially in La Fille du pharaon. And Svetlana Zakharova was also dancing in the opening (and I think also closure) of the Winter Olympic games in Sotschi. A honor she truely deserved!
