I like to use the app "Litterati" to document the litter, and it turns it into a bit of a game to see how much I can collect in a day. It GPS locates each piece, when you take a pic, and you can tag "Wendys" for example, as a way to help get to the source of repeat litter. I think the app encourages litter pick up, because I picked up 2, 000 pieces off a beach in one day, and the app definitely encouraged me to pick up more...
