Great question by YouTube commenter Tony James: "Hi Dan, at what level can I assume myself to be if I have completed your 'Python Tricks' book. Beginner or Intermediate?"

My book "Python Tricks: A Buffet of Awesome Python Features" covers a wide range of topics and skills important to any Python developer. In this video I'll share some of my thoughts on the idea of "Python skill levels" like beginner/intermediate/advanced and how my book can help you become a more skillful Pythonista.

Go through the book once or twice more...just to strengthen your knowledge.

Thank you Dan, here's what I got from this video.
• It is hard to find clear definitions for intermediate, advanced, expert level developer
• So, it is difficult to categorize developers
• If you feel comfortable with the concepts in the book, you’ve way passed the beginner stage
• You may be an expert in Python syntax, but you may be average in other things
• Only reading the book will not be sufficient, you need to add them to your implementation

why is it that nobody talks about program design. This subject seems very large. I am struggling with program design.

Hey Dan. Thanks for making this video. I am self learning python from Lynda videos and web resources. So far Python feels interesting than other programming languages I learned at university eg c, c++, java. Python feels extremely easy to grasp. But one problem (as you mentioned in the video) that I have had with other languages is that although I master the syntaxes and basic features well, I struggle applying those to make advanced stuffs. I also suck at keeping myself up to date with latest libraries and latest practices in a said language. For these reasons I haven't been able to "master" those other languages. So do you have any tips for me? How can I apply my knowledge in a better way? How do I take the leap from beginner level to the intermediate? Thank you in advance.

good work Bader, I know how it is difficult to write a book as well as creating YouTube videos, you are doing a great job, can you start a new project on a great idea by inviting new developers, thus you and new python developers will get mutual benefits

I'm learning a bit backwards.. I'm an automation QA Engineer and have learned how to write tests, but I really don't understand the algorithms or instances such as i++ as well as do/while loop statements. I never went to college or any tech school for computer science and don't have a full grasp of the essentials of programming language.. Should I begin by reading this book? Programming essentials courses? Thanks for the help and input! -

My goal is to become an SDET /Automation Architect Engineer
