It was one of my favourite songs all those years ago, hearing it so often nowadays makes me realize how much I've grown and how much has changed... but my appreciation of this song is everlasting, more than 10 years on!

It hits differently today, though.

It's nice to think about pretty much a new generation of people that will be navigating through the crazy times of their lives while listening to it.

This song found me exactly when it needed to.

My Mom passed away in January from cancer. When I saw GotG3 in theatres and heard this song, something about it hit me. That it’s okay to have joy even after so much hurt. That you can dance freely, as if no one was watching, and shout with pure joy. I ended up listening to it after spreading her ashes and I could feel that peace. That sense that it’s okay to feel happy again, and that’s what she wants me to feel. The dog days are over and all that I’ve got left is the happy memories, the motivation to run fast, and leave the sorrow behind.

For those still in the dog days, or those who think they’ll never be out of them. The dog days WILL be over, and you’ll find that joy and freedom to dance and shout.
