Catherine de Medici (Samantha Morton) is Queen Regent of France now that her son, Charles IX has come of age. Minnie Driver did a good job channelling Queen Elizabeth: both of them. It was the obvious barbed flattery and the portrayal of patient observation of the 'other' Queen made me think of the two monarchs who have borne that name. Clever piece of acting.

This scene is utterly ridiculous. Elisabeth was righly cultivated, spoke several languages fluently, was good with math & new perfectly well were Navarre was. I do not understand what is the point in making a series or a film about history if history & historical figures will not be respected.
The whole conversation between the two queens is an aberration.
