I would strongly recomend matching the cells before re-installing. Run a few charge/discharge cycles. Odds are really good that your #1going to have a fire or #2 your going to have the battery back open because the 2 older cells cant keep up with the new ones. If its only 5 cells replace them all.. But replace them with cells that you know there capacitys. Matching cell capacities is critical. If you dont have a hobby charger (imax b6, sky rc, thunder, prophet, etc) then i eould say dont take on the lithiumbattery repair/swap. Often times the control board is whats bad anyways.

Kudos! Your presentation is a dramatic masterpiece and technological teaching both at the same time. Further more it is a double barrel impartation of your skills showing how to fix a dead battery and how to make the tool to fix it, while presenting it in normal daily actions style non verbally, (pantomime). I would advise a few things for safeties sake here. A thick metal bucket half filled with sand, and some extra cable protection as it exits the case to protect the insulation from getting damaged and shorting things out.

Expect some of the Lithium Ion cells to not like this welder and start gassing and worse, when they do use the bucket and get them outside fast. Just search here for lithium battery fire and explosions. Really people be safe, this is not for the faint of heart.

Для ремонта на необитаемом острове, при наличии кучи металлов и старых запчастей, по технологии - "И так сойдёт!" - Просто замечательно! Супер!
Ну а если подойти к решению вопроса ремонта батарей, то куча нарушений при замене акб. Это и выбор новых элементов вместе со старыми и перегрев элементов при сварке (100% будет больше сопротивления в миллиомах), ну и не аккуратность.

Couple of safety issues & suggestions here:

1. Please, for the love of God, if your gonna run the hot & ground wire through the case, use a grommet so the wires don't chafe and short out.

2. Suggestion for version 2: see if you can wire in/DIY a foot switch. Maybe salvage one from an old sewing machine?

3. Suggestion for version 2: mount a heavy duty alligator clip on your negative probe, and mount the positive probe on an overhead handle so all you have to do is touch it for the spot weld. The alligator clip will help you get a better grip to hold the nickle strip to the battery, as well as supply the ground for the spot welder.

My man, I love the old school approach to a modern problem, you bring me memories of my childhood hood with my old man.
The problem is this approach would be perfectly fine for anyone born up to the 80's but the generation that is most likely to need a use for it, unfortunately barley knows how to cross the road without getting hit because their faces are plastered to their phones.

An updated video with some sort of timing circuit would make this almost fool proof.

I would strongly recomend thicker wire for the replaced coil. That wire used in the video can get hot and melt the insulation, when in use.

Лучшее предложение для сварки литий-ионных АКБ . Никаких заморочек типа микросхем и кнопок включения. Конечно, надёжность такого аппарата может вызвать у многих кучу нареканий, но поскольку нужда в его работе возникает раз в пять лет, то и решение самое простое и на мой взгляд оптимальное из всех что я видел на ютубе. 👍
