Tensions are rising between the world's two biggest economies. China had warned the US against House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi's trip to Taiwan. But on Tuesday, that's precisely where she landed. Beijing views Taiwan as a breakaway Chinese province and opposes international recognition of its government and visits from officials. Military tensions along the Taiwan Strait are high... but Pelosi said her trip was a show of support for Taiwan's democracy.

Wait, China is punishing it's own people because someone from the US is visiting China? Or do they now admit Taiwan as different country?

They threatened the US, but then punish Taiwan. Nice bully move.

Making chips in the US isn't "too expensive." The companies that make them just won't be able to compensate their executives and shareholders quite as much. They'll still be rich. Just not quite AS rich. Non-starter.

Taiwan’s friends will buy the surplus items, and most probably pay a better price as well.

@DW NEWS • Thanks for the graphics on the countries producing semi-conductors and nano-semiconductors. The graphics helped clarify the numbers other sources are throwing around. Good job! 👍
