Finally someone shows how to insert this type of niche. I got one of these but I didn't know if I overlap the flange or recess the flange. Thank you!

So do you have to shave the back of the tiles? Because if you're wallboard, whatever it may be is plum and flat. And you go putting that niche over then you got like an eighth of a jump, so how do you correct That? Seems like you would have to make it flush to actually work properly. That looks like some cheapo niche
