The sense of isolation that creeps in the further out in the system Roy gets is unlike anything I’ve ever seen in a movie. It’s such an awesome way to illustrate the inner isolation so many people feel.

The entire sequence between father and son was done so well. The sense of emptiness in the universe—both in fear and awe. Loneliness. Solitude.

3:32 Absolutely terrifying. That's loneliness on an unimaginable scale.

The depiction and the mood of this scene is perfectly executed. If one day humanity travels into deep space and get a chance to get a closer look, it will sure be a surreal. Neptune sure is one of the most beautiful planet. But man I bet when you see our planet that far away, it is the most beautiful one that is ever created.

This movie is probably NOT for person who have astrophobia. The loneliness and emptiness of the wide scale of space just creep me out even I don’t have that phobia. But it also beautiful. One of the underrated movie, the cinematography is excellent.

Roy travelled 4.5 billion km's through the nothingness of space, to confront his demons; his father, whom ultimately forced him to let him go by actually letting him go. Heart shattered into a million pieces next to that giant blue ball of who knows what.

The beautiful artistry of his dad soo obsessed with beyond earth and how he despised that life when there exists nothing, no life, beyond earth and he wasted everything he ever wanted right in front of him

2:16 his fater is still pressing the button to get away and Roy still tries to pursue him despite the fact he could not return any more. He tried EVERYTHING, that is exactly the moment to letting go

Neptune is serene and scary at the same time.

Think about it from his father's perspective, he's been in space for decades, he's never going to be able to walk in any kind of gravity ever again, he'd be going back to be a wheelchair bound prisoner. I have no suicidal tendencies, but I'd rather be floating in neptunian space than unable to move in a wheelchair in a cell.

One of my all time favorite movies. Too bad the trailers mislead people into thinking this was a Marvel movie set in space.

Roy's father does not care about societal norms, cultures, people. He's over and completely bored of it all... he prefers to go far within his own imagination, thoughts, feelings, memories and perceptions... we're all going to experience this after we die. I guess Roy's father got to that point before his death. He has definitely lost his mind. He doesn't need it anymore, based on where he is going...
