How to buy the best bread maker

- Consider what kind of breads you want to make and look for those settings when shopping (e.g. pasta dough, gluten free, pizza, brioche)

- Work out whether your bread maker can live on your counter top or whether it needs to be compact enough to fit into a cupboard.

- Look for a bread maker with an auto-dispenser and a delay timer.

- Don't get drawn in by fancy settings - consider how much you'd really use them before splashing out.

I have a Panasonic breadmaker which was recommended by a guest. I have used it nearly every day to make white, wholemeal, honey and sunflower seed, brioche and French bread. Consistently makes great bread.

I have just bought a sage bread maker and for the first time have used a bread enhancer and dried active yeast in it the loaf turned out huge and the bread the best I have ever made if it lasts as long as the Panasonic I will be well pleased
