I honestly did not know that the pressure tank had to be pressure charged till I was getting new water filters installed, crazy how much knowledge is just out there on the internet but sometimes people don't even think about it existing

Good job my dude, Yea it was probably a clogged up psi switch diaphragm or nipple. I have seen rust or sand jamb them open or closed.

Always make sure the check valve is holding, loosen the 1/8" plug and check to see if it's leaking back.
You can do this with system under pressure and power off just bleed the line pressure and it should not keep running. Also on the bladder, diaphragm tanks it should also hold water behind valve from a check at the pump. If it starts sucking down when you remove plug the pump check is bad. It can cause damage to the well pump and the aboveground check valve from water hammer on pump cut in and off.

Take it easy,
Casey

The customer decided to just do the minimum to get the water working again!

That's like saying I bought my truck in for a service and they offered me an oil change or a new engine!

Thank you for the instructional video. I need to do this on my other house.

Great video, I thought this was my issue, but as it turns out my bladder tank was low from the installed pressure. I refilled it back to 2 under my cut on pressure, and all is good.

Just did this exact same thing. I'm a DIY guy, but it was still pretty simple

Always good to give the options so folks realize this is the bare minimum but to properly keep it going long term it’s this much. A lot of sad pipe work needs redoing.

To add a little info: That tank looks to be a bladder tank and was likely precharged to the specified psi but looks to have lost around 10psi at some point. Maybe just time but could be a pin hole in the bladder. As covered in his video, the pressure stitch and the tank air pressure work together.

What i didn't hear you mention is if she also had a water filter. Sometimes when the filter starts to get clogged it can show as low pressure.

So re-piping is unnecessary but you offered to do the work? Am I understanding that correctly?

I’m learning so much watching your videos. Where are you based out of?

Thank you for making this video. Would a bad pressure tank cause well pump system frequent cycling?

hey so you know i have been a viewer an subscriber for a long time, i do have a question though, if the tank needed to be re pressurized an gauge an switch replaced why would that be considered the minimum to get it back up an running ? wouldn’t it be all that’s neeeded or no ?

Those switches are adjustable. Most times they can be adjusted back to the settings from factory. The settings will change due to weather change. Cold makes metal shrink heat makes metal expand. Same principle with the springs on the pressure switch. Most times they need adjusting twice a year, give or take on location and condition of the well.

At which point would you check your precharge pressure (38psi). Tank empty?

Not your fault/problem but that’s a electrical fire waiting to happen, it’s crazy how many electrical code violations I see in these videos
