Thanks for the review! Could you please tell me the noise level difference between the two, the Noctua compared to the Arctic Summair Plus? Cheers.

I wish someone would make a 20" silent box fan. We don't see effort to build high quality utilitarian fans for the home, like we do with cpu fans..

A12x25s are some of the best fans on the market especially for how long Noctua claims they will last. I think they claimed 150, 000 or 17 years. And heck the air amplifier could be used in a case if one so desired.

It is ridiculously expensive for what it is. Could almost buy a small air con unit for the price of this. I imagine this would be a 'must have' for hardcore Noctua 'fans' but there's many cheaper alternatives that will be more than suitable for most people.

I dunno, Jack. I think you've got the right of it: it's a novelty item, most likely to appeal to Noctua enthusiasts in particular, _and_ it's hella expensive. $$$

Before I go further I'll say that, while I have considerable appreciation and respect for Noctua's design and engineering in PC air cooling, what keeps me from buying more than the single U9S that I currently own and use (the chromax black edition), is their *pricing:* their prices are just too damned high. There are more players in the air cooling game these days, some of whom (Thermalright) are bringing cooling solutions to market that are arguably as good as Noctua's, and they're pricing their products MUCH lower.

I feel like Noctua's gotten a bit stale on the CPU cooling front. This is evident (to me anyway) by some of the partnerships they've recently formed with other manufacturers within the realm of PC components (ASUS, Fractal Design, Seasonic, etc) -- presumably to establish a foothold in some new segment of the market. It's as if they're throwing different ideas at consumers (PSU and GPU cooling, PC cases, and now a desk fan) in the hope that _something_ will stick.

Having said all that (sorry, I do tend to carry on, I know 🙄), there are *loads* of cheaper and (I dare say) more efficient conventional desk fan models on the market. (I own a pair that are of very good quality and in great shape too, so I don't need to buy another, but I know they're a dime a dozen on Amazon if I needed one.)

So it leads back to the NV-FS1 being an enthusiast purchase; a niche item. Not something I think I'd be interested in (even if I _could_ afford to buy it 😋).

I am surprised and disappointed that there is no competition in this space from the big players like Corsair, Thermalright, Scythe, NZXT, Thermaltake, BeQueiet, Antec, Zalman, Etc. I would like to see each company make their own design, stands and flow amplifiers or grills and sell it as a kit. I have a few spare high quality fans laying about that I would like to easily convert to a desk fan for a reasonable price.
