Sacrifice is a practice of suffering, which is quintessential to life. Joy not a guarantee, but we must work and sacrifice while being able to identify joy when and if it comes to us in our work and self sacrifice.

I've always believed this to be true. I experienced this early as a child when I would see my father come home, covered in dirt and mud (a laborer), say hello to my mother and his 6 children and play for a moment and then fall asleep almost mid sentence on the couch.

I would sit on the floor by his feet just amazed that a man so big and so strong could be so tired. I could only imagine how difficult his work was, and knew this was his sacrifice for us, his family.

Now with my two infant sons I feel this same degree of sacrifice taking place within my family's life, but what's different is the joy I receive. I never felt this joy as a child, or any time else in my life as I do now coming home exhausted from work only to kiss my wife and have my son run to hug me and then to hold my newborn only to fall asleep with him in my arms.

I'm often gone for days, often without sleep, and often stressed to my breaking point during the worst moments of my work, but this sacrifice, this committed sacrifice to the future and my family albeit hard, I now have a joy like no other. Even if just for a moment as I fall asleep in exhaustion as my father did.

Sacrifice is the biblical human experience. It is symbolic to the commitment made through sacrifice as Peterson says, for the first community of family, and thereunto neighbors as would be self, etc.

Children are the transformative and redemptive joy God gives us, as did he unto us with his son Jesus Christ.

But as I would lay down my life for my children and wife without hesitation, God laid down his son for our sin. I come to tears thinking about that now for the first time as a father.

What God has sacrifice for us, as I hold my son's.

Jordan Peterson is a modern day prophet. I mean no offense to those who would find this to be sacrilegious or condemn me for idolization.
But this remains cogent in my mind. Jordan is highly intelligent, has counseled many people in different walks of life, and he has the distinct ability to channel the thoughts and words he has directly into the cultural context required to speak to mankind’s minds and souls, within such a time as today. What that means, I’ll never truly understand. I’ve listened to many different people on the internet. Reality is difficult to interpret within a digital context. I’d have to meet the man in person to get a better sense of his being, but he stands out because he gets to the bedrock of our collective plight.

In this context I like to say myself that tomorrow comes. Tomorrow comes, the day after that, the week after that and so on and so forth. As a addict its really hard to sacrifice the momentarily pleasure and impulsive nature that comes along with it but is it impossible? No, its not. Have really started to treat myself as a friend of mine who needs help and this is changing the relationship I have with myself and I try not to curse and go hard a lot on myself which really just guilt trips me and the pattern begins if you know what I mean. Change is hard, sacrifice is hard but I am choosing my suffering and sacrifice. As a first step, I am cutting myself from all the folks which are too deep or are pulling me back or cueing me to take those actions. Its a long and tough process and I am not making false commitment to myself by telling that just do it today and we will leave tomorrow. Choose life, folks choose life

It is crucial to remind people that embedding discipline in our life and no matter whatever you do, you try to feel connected to what you are doing and take little victories along the way. Mutual understanding and sharing good or bad times with people you trust that would make a better community.
