MAMEY SAPOTE 🧡

A super sweet fruit that’s dense in texture, perfect to make your smoothies extra creamy or for a filling snack 😋 it has a sweet potato, pumpkin, caramel flavor that’s pairs well with spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. This variety is called Magaña which is the most commonly grown and is more rich/dense of the few varieties grown in South Florida.

Mamey is ready to eat when the fruit becomes soft all over. We love to cut it in half and eat it plain but when we’re feeling extra indulgent we drizzle it with almond butter and lots of cinnamon 🤎

Mamey usually contains one (sometimes two) large seeds which tend to sprout 🌱 inside the fruit! We planted this seed with the magic soil from @treeamigosgrowers about a month ago and it’s starting to show some growth 🌱 check back in to see the progress!

Our mamey sapote is grown on an organic farm in Homestead, FL and is currently in season 👉 Find it every Friday-Sunday 10am-5pm at our fruit stand!

In El Salvador you would eat them as is or have them as a delicious shake.. This was the only kind of Zapote I was familiar with.

I have never seen anything like it. I tried it for the first time. It actually had 2 seeds & they are sprouting. I live in South Carolina & I would like to grow one if possible. What kind of soil would I put it in? Also, I heard that it takes about 10 years for it to even fruit? Would I be able to start this in my house and then later on put it maybe in a greenhouse? And does it need a lot of water or should I let it dry out can somebody please Give me step-by-step
