Things got emotional when we sat down to talk to 3 dads and 3 sons about why it is that they don't tell each other "I love you." What are your thoughts on this?

My grandfather gave me the first hug and kiss I've ever received from him on my bootcamp graduation... my dad was left with tears and when I asked him why he was crying that not to worry ill be fine, he answered with "that's the first time I've seen my dad give someone a hug and kiss, he's never gave me one as a kid or as an adult." shit got me...

I don't know much about the Latino community, but I know that any man who works hard for his family is displaying love toward them.

Mexican fathers show love with actions not words.

Dam for those who understood the spanish letter, that one hit hard. My old man has always worked hard all his life, very straight forward but a loving guy.

My dad didn't call me by my first name until I was 16. He always just called me "Boy" as in "Get up Boy, we're mowing the lawn" or "Come on Boy, we're checking the oil in your mom's car" I am the oldest and I never knew why he treated me different than my brother and sister. When I was 16, I woke up to use the restroom and realized that that it had froze the night before. I woke up early the next day to scrape off the ice from everyone's car so we could go to work/school. I was eating breakfast when my dad went out with the came back in, put the scraper by the door, and said "Good work Jack." Still one of my favorite dad/son moments. Mexican dad's don't say "I love you" but they let you know it in subtle ways

What scars son said about the fish store hit me. I was a young father and i remember taking my daughter to petco to look at the animals because i was broke. Fortunately we made it out ok. And as she got older i was able to take her to disney land and all that fun stuff. Shes 17 now and i dont think she even knows how poor we were. Im ok with that.

“One thing about being a dad is that you’re never told that you’re being a good dad, you just gotta hope that you are”
That’s deep.

This is why I consistently tell my son I love him. We gotta break the cycle as Mexican dads.

Lost my dad in 2016. I'm a grown man now at 33 and I just cried because I miss him. If you love your dad, hug it or for me, because I will never be able to again.

I just turned 24. My Mexican dad has never told me he loves me. But I’ve seen him struggle and huddle for the roof over my head. His actions speak to me. This video brought me to tears. I love my pops.

The only one that mad me cry was the one with Manuel and Sergio 😢

Born in Argentina and both my parents are from there, my dad always said “I love you” and “I’m proud of you” and he continues to show it to us. I’m blessed and there is power in those words. I am the step dad now of a Mexican boy and I love him like he is my own. Thanks to my dad.

Many mexican fathers had a hard life and grew up dirt poor. Their parents never told them that they loved them. A lot of fathers don’t say this because they never knew what that felt like. It’s important you become aware of it though and tell your loved ones these words to let them know because you may never get another chance to do it. Like many things, death is unpredictable so it’s best to do it while we’re still alive and breathing.
