Do Car Suction Cups Work To Remove Dents?

We attempt to remove a small dent in our car with a suction cup dent puller which you can buy for $15-20 on Amazon. Hopefully this video can guide your decision on whether or not it is worth it to buy one of these little guys and see if can pull your dent out. Long story short: they don't seem to be very effective for dents that are located in corners of body frame parts! But it may be worth it to see if you can save yourself hundreds of dollars in actual repair costs at an auto body repair shop!

Thank you for documenting and posting your experience despite it not working. It's still really helpful. When you said "Sacramento" I was kind of taken aback, because I just moved here literally a week ago for my summer internship, and I bought a used car with a small dent in it here as well to use for the summer. Kinda wild that the first video I clicked on is in the city, too. Maybe youtube's algorithm is location-based, lol.

Cheers, all the best! Good luck with residency or whatever stage of your M.D. career you are in!

Although it didn’t work for you, not to brag but watching your video taught me how I should try and get my dent out and IT WORKED! I have a x3 2021 I dented the door using my body to close it one day. (I only weigh 135, but I was mad this day) I got a pot of boiling water poured it all over the passenger door the big cup wouldn’t suction but the little ones however 😳🤯 I had to pull a lot even after the dent was out to get the little ones off lol ! I got mines from amazon for 16 bucks this saved me a lot !!!

While your running for a towel...which you don't need, water will help the suction cup stick...the metal is cooling. 😕

For damage in that location you can run the boiling water over it like you did then push outward from the inside of the wheel well.

All dents are different. Metal has memory to it, meaning it will want to go back to its original shape, but it takes some massaging in order to do so. This dent was too sharp to do with just a suction cup. Glue pulling would be a better option or using a PDR tool from behind so you can work the dent out by pulling in precise locations. Just pulling in the middle wont work because the sharpest part of the dent wasnt pulled. Until you get that out, the big part will always go back to that shape.

I appreciate you posting this video. I think my dent in the right front quarter panel is able to be either knocked out or suctioned the way you posted. My front bumper is another story. It’s plastic Kia Soul … but I think I’ll be able to effect repairs using the $1800+ I’m getting from the insurance company!

Too bad it didn’t work. Sorry to hear/see. :(. But great attempt.
I’m in the same predicament now with a small dent around the wheel fender, and being on an odd angle, I too feel, it just might not work for myself either… :(

You guys maybe should’ve used bigger ones with more suction but I’m an outsider looking in. I just bought a double one that’s about the size of the yellow one. Except there’s two attached to it. Gonna try to do it soon

use soapy water on the suction cup prior to clamping the handles together

Open the bonnet/hood and use a rubber hammer to push the dent out from the inside. That's how I removed the huge dent on the left fender about the bumper.

push is 100x easy and 100% results versus pull especially if it is deformed rather dent. That is why body shops charge fortune because they remove body and fix it. Gonna return mine after few try

i had a ding in my car. 2 dings. backed into a pole. they were not really big. i used this and worked it for an hour. use windex or water to help it stick. i would say i got a good 85% of it out. stopped because its now nite time i cant see. i think its very minimal and hardly noticable but its not exactly like new looking. but it does work and will continue to work on it tomorrow or this week when it is sunny! you have to do it multiple times so try it for 1/2 hour or more. you will notice an improvement.
