The Georgia law states a tazer is a deadly weapon. That cop is innocent of any wrong doing. 40 minutes Rayshard had to tell the truth, take his punishment like a man, but he didn't. Rayshards decision to fight and put an officer of the law and public at risk is what lead to his death.

Under Georgia law is considered a deadly weapon less deadly then a gun but still considered a deadly weapon under Georgia law allows a person to use deadly force if he or she reasonably believes that such force is necessary to prevent death or bodly injury to or herself or a third person that a police officer can use deadly force when he or she reasonably believes that the suspect possesses a deadly weapon or any object device or instrument which when used offensively against a person is likely to or actually does resuit bodly injury and when he or she reasonably believes that the suspect pose an immediate threat of bodly injury to the police officer or other person so when Rayshard Brooks stole the taser from the police officer and pointing and shoot it at his face Rayshard Brooks poses a immediate threat the police officer so under the law he had every right to shoot to stop the immediate threat

I actually agree that the officer could have done better. My thinking is it appeared that he was more or less in the right to react the way he did. I think the higher ups in the police force in atlanta and other cities need to reavaluate their training for police officers. In Atlanta's case, they need to confess that the officer is in the right based on the rules as they stand but that the rules are wrong and need to be changed. The officer should get a lesser charge or not charged at all and then atlanta needs to change their training in what officers are permitted to do in certain situations. The problem is the mayor, the DA, and the chief of police would have to indirectly admit that their rules (which are bad) need to be changed and they don't want any blame especially in the current climate. I'm pretty sure the lawyers for the officer are going to point to the officer's training manuals and past practice of other officers in similar situations to show this has been happening for a while in similar situations in atlanta and that the DA has done little to nothing in certain similar instances.
