Jackery vs EcoFlow vs Gas Generator - Which will Power a Small AC Unit?

In this "Will it Run it" video series, I'm on a search to see what power source can run a mechanical controlled 5k BTU Window AC unit. Eventually I will want to add this to my Tiny Toy Hauler that I'm currently building (check out my playlist for videos on that topic if you are interested). I'm toying with the idea of getting one large solar generator and using it instead of trying to get a battery, converter, inverter, charger, etc...

The results of todays video may surprise you... they surprised me for sure!

Turn on the fan first, then lower the temp knob slowly until the compression kicks on; I run my LG 5000btu with the Jackery 3000 all night.

I have the 720 & 320 Eco flow they saved my butt during the flood in this February and March. We’re on the side of the road in the RV above the even park no one in our RV park was prepared but me my RV up lit up like a Christmas tree I use my Prius to keep them charged
I have since added two 110 foldable solar panels from the same brand ❤ I got mine on payments through QVC which really helped for my situation

An ‘Air Conditioner Soft Starter’ would solve the issue of the massive amp draw spike when the compressor kicks on for the first time. With one of those devices I bet you could run the AC on the smallest unit.

so 600 watts of panels and the Jackery should run a small ac and charge the battery at the same time... this looks like a good idea for my son to cool his VR room and not kill my electric bill 👍👍

Gas generator still going 8 hours later.

I wonder if you started the AC on fan first then switched it to compressor if it would start easier?🤔

Just a suggestion would be to list the actual model numbers of what you are testing and even affiliate links you could make money and you could also help people that are actually trying to figure out which units to purchase. Units like this are quite expensive and you could actually earn a pretty substantial affiliate income while making it easier for people to make decisions

I have a Bluetti EB55 and a small camper with an ac unit like that. The Bluetti will run it for about an hour. It's 700 watts with 537wh capacity.

I’m not an expert but I do believe the ac has a starter capacitor the will charge up after being plugged in for a while. This capacitor will help boost the compressor for startups. Because you tried the smaller jackery first and the ac wasn’t plugged in for very long it did Tver that charge to the capacitor which caused the startup to rely only on the jackery. The other sources benefited from being plugged in and the capacitor had some boost to assist starts. Try the jackery again after the ac is plugged in for a while.

Most A/C units require that you wait at least mins. between start attempts. (To allow head pressure to dissipate).

Those sportsman generators are the bomb, I have a 2200 watts peak running 1800 and I can put an a/c like yours plus freezer, fridge and lights, even though it runs at max but is able to run all that.

The River series will only take in a max of 200watts solar so you could extend the run time but it’s going to run out.

I have that generator, and a similar AC, no issues with it running an air condtioner other than parks that don't allow you to use it overnight.. I don't think the Sportsman generators are still available. Pity too they are pretty nice.

If it's running 400W on a 750Wh battery, I'd be really curious to see how long it really runs.

Nice video! I have limited yard space, so can't run a generator. Was always wondering if a setup like this might work.

I dump my generator into the house using the 220 and power the whole house. Just being careful with the hot water and not running the stove or oven. Been without power after a couple hurricanes. Amazing how dark it is at night when you're the only one for miles with power, lights and ac. The generator runs like a champ even in hurricanes wind and rain. Treat your ethanol free gas and it lasts for years. Used almost 5 year old gas. Runs almost as good as fresh, but wouldn't put in my car lol

2+ hrs on Ecoflow River Max. High temp light flashes after high loads run. Charging (solar or utility) is disable. River Max will run a Midea 5/8k Btu portable AC without X-Boost. Obviously, it won't last long. Sportsman gen 800/1000W can start 5K Btu Haier with Eco off. Eco can be on after it runs for about a minute

The jackery 1000 is def worth testing out on these!

It would be great if you actually mentioned the exact model of the power stations.

I'm not convinced with the EcoFlow due to similiar tests with the EcoFlow Pro which the 5K btu failed after about 5 minutes
