The city of Astoria should just buy the house and make it a landmark if it comes to the market in the future. And then they can do whatever with it. But for a private citizen, tourism would be an absolute nightmare. And the neighbors must hate it, too.

Personally, I would have restored the house to the way it was in the movie, but it's cool the house is still there

News reports are saying today that the owner of the Walsh house has closed the house off to tourists.  The reason is that she has grown tired of having hundreds of people stop by a day to see the house and leaving garbage behind.  These same people have even let their pets relieve themselves on the lawn, so that's another reason.  She's not being mean by doing this.  I believe she desires her privacy now.  If you owned a famous home and had to experience what she went through daily, wouldn't you be sick of it as well?  I know I would.
