This is one of those lessons that I need to slow down to 75% playback speed. Lotta good stuff there. Rapid fire techniques, love it! Goes perfect with your Funk and Fingerstyle workbooks. And I gotta get me one if those STAX tshirts!!! Thank you so much Dan.

This is the nest medicine. What an onion skin of a basic exercise, peel away a layer and another presents itself. TBH, I can't think you can talk enough about the the Dorian scale... (Goooo Sparta!). What I enjoy the most about these lessons is how casual it and relaxed it feels without the need to pull a ''Bass Face', Thank you Dan.

Thank you. Have always wanted to play funk technique. Been playing just straight technique for over 25 years. Love your videos and I’m learning. 😊

Thanks Dan - I'm glad you covered "The Shake" as you call it, so that's how Mark Adams played those notes with the Slave band decades ago. I recall that was a unique emphasized bass sound in Slave's songs, including "Watching You". Nice work on the techniques - a reminder for me to work on raking and ghost notes.

I didn’t like funk but after picking up the bass the first bassline I played was a funky type of line but it was not perfect so this is great

Lots of pearls in this video Dan. Thanks. Especially like the 'shake' - it actually reminded me of Mick Karns fretless technique on many songs namely to outline the chord notes low down then zip up the fretboard for the shake - e.g. Visions of China. Though Mick RIP would hit on the note and a tone above rather than the funk shake of a semitone above and below. Awesome technique - I'm guessing its something to not overuse as it can really catch the attention :)

Ohh wow, you've made my day, a Mark Adams fan too.👍

Another guy whom I've found does a great shake, dare I say even more articulated, is Davide Romani of Change fame.

Thanks for the upload Dan. Just discovered this channel and what a find😎
