He couldn't have had the two most opposite people on his show and it was brilliant! Loved them both.

Hard to believe that 27 year old Janis Joplin would be dead just 3 months after this show. May she RIP.

She had said in an interview that the reason she agreed to go on this show was because she wanted to meet Janis Joplin. She was a fan of Janis.

I love how blunt Raquel and Janice are both being. Janice makes it clear she didn't like the movie. That would not happen on today's talk shows.

Raquel was not only stunning visually, she had a wonderful voice and manner of speaking.

There is something about Dick Cavette's shows. l was a little boy when his talk show aired. But even as a child, there was a warmth that l felt and l didn't even know the celebrities then. But my father watched his show while l played with my toys. But l noticed his warmth and sincerity even as a child.

When I was 13 she made a personal appearance at the providence civic center. I was crazy about her I was a teenager and thought she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen so I waited and hour in line to get and autograph pic of her. When I finally got there I told her she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. She sweetly said awe thank you and she hugged me and kissed me on the cheek. I will never forget how good she smelled and how naturally beautiful she was. I was in a fog for 2 days. 😝

It's funny. At 5 yrs. old I awoke in the back of my parents station wagon to see Raquel on the drive-in movie screen and fell in love! 7 years later I heard Janice and I grew to love her too. Still 47 years later, seeing both of them together, flaws and all, and my Heart still quivers and skips a beat.

I'm always impressed, when I watch these clips, by just how smooth Dick Cavett was. Amazing.

This was back when late night talk shows were actually what they purported to be. Not the nonsense you get these days with scripted interviews and such. I mean, this is real conversation here. Two brilliant women -- brilliant in completely different ways -- just having an honest unfiltered discussion. The modern-day equivalent for this is the podcast.
