Raquel Welch - a tribute

Music by Shania Twain. I've been thinking about this video for quite literally years, but Raquel's recent departure finally moved me to do something. This covers the period of her career from Fantastic Voyage up to Walks Far Woman, before her five-year break.

Raquel was unique. Beautiful inside and out. She even took the time to entertain the troops in Vietnam during the war with Bob Hope. I will not forget that, I served in that region in1970.

I knew a woman that was in many Beauty Contests with Raquel. I saw many photos of her from her teen years when she was winning beauty contest after beauty contest. Miss Ramona, Miss Southern California, Miss La Jolla, Miss San Diego, Miss Fairest of the Fair and Maid of California. At 14, quite young for a beauty contestant. She did not win the contest. But she did win Miss Photogenic and Miss Contour. Imagine at 14 years of age, her body was that shapely to win Miss Contour. She married her high school sweetheart right after graduation. She had two children before the marriage broke up. For a short time she was the San Diego Weather girl and a model while going to San Diego State College for the performing Arts. She saved about two hundred dollars and she and her children left for Hollywood. She had bit parts, but soon she had two hit movies she starred in, Fantastic Voyage, and the movie that made her an international Sex Symbol, One Million years B.C. Though she was in Playboy twice, she never exposed her breasts. Always covering herself with her hair or her arms. In the movies, other Actors or Directors bugged her to "Take off her top". She said no and would argue about it. Labeling her, Hard to get along with. She has been voted the perfect Bikini Body. And the 3rd most sexiest star of the 20th Century by Playboy. I've always held great respect and admiration for her. There will never be another, Raquel Welch!
