Sir please correct me if I explained it wrong. I suppose the slab is a magnet/electromagnet and the ball is a conductor as it's wrapped with aluminium foil. There is a change in magnetic flux as the ball moves, which induces currents on portions of the foil called Eddy currents. These currents produce heat, hence the ball slows down due to loss in it's kinetic energy which is completely converted to heat.

Electrostatic force ?? The ball and plate might be oppositely charged that's why the ball got a retardation force
