Tom Hanks & Hannah Waddingham Perform the Iconic Rap from 'Big'

♫ Shimmy shimmy coco pop, shimmy shimmy rock... ♫ Ticking one off the bucket list for her 14 year old self, Hannah Waddingham asks Tom Hanks to join her in re-creating the famous chant from the blockbuster movie 'Big'.

Casting his mind back, Tom fondly remembers working with the wonderful director Penny Marshall, the 'back-breaking' process behind the piano scene at FAO Schwarz, and how his son Colin inspired this magic moment in the film.

An Evening with Tom Hanks was originally broadcast on Sun 3 Dec 2023 from the Prince Edward Theatre, London.

Dammit! Now I have to watch Big again. I was a senior in High School at the time and absolutely loved it. The true irony of the movie is that even when you do finally become "big", you're still just as clueless as that 12-year-old stumbling around pretending to know what you're doing. There's also a wide-eyed naivete, fearlessness and excitement about the world that we all desperately wish to hold onto in spite of all the bitter knowledge experience brings as we age. Superb film.
