Why Russians Built Typhoon Submarine #shorts

At the time, the Soviets knew that their submarine stealth technology was not on par with the US at the time. That being the case, do you think that the logical next step is to make a monster sized and thus easier to detect submarine?
No, the reason why it’s so big is because they had a genius method of getting around US technology. They would just have the submarine stay near ice, which makes ambient noise. For example, an Australian Collins-class submarine defeated a few US vessels including a nuclear attack submarine by this method. Through hiding near coasts, they were able to slip past even a choke point which I thought was just unfair, and theoretically got close enough to shoot a destroyer and thus winning.
Typhoon will do the same, near ice regions. They made it bigger since they could drown it out. One of the benefits is higher endurance, not only in terms of food but crew morale. Like having a small gym. It also has a sauna, and even a freaking pool. Perhaps the only comfort caring design naval ship, the Typhoon even designs leisure facilities to make leisure facilities look like they were on land. This is to help for the longer endurance of 4 months, one month longer than the US Ohio-class and probably with a similar lead on the actual classified max endurance. Maybe even more with the morale cushioning design features.

Not sure how effective they are but the typhoon is a magnifent vessel.

Since the Arctic ice is shrinking fast, the Typhoon is probably more endangered than the polar bears.

I was a sonar technician in the navy. I can honestly tell you that the typhoon has a triple haul and can run deeper than the US submarines. Know anybody who knows how sun propagation travels through water also knows about the sonic layers. The typhoon hides below the sonic layers, and therefore, although big and noisy appears very quiet and stuffy when it is only traveling at 1 to 2 mph

This isn't the only reason they did it. They had inferior liquid-propulsion missile tech. The West had perfected solid-propellent missiles in the 70's. The USSR missiles needed to be larger to have the necessary range, so they built a bigger submarine to accommodate their huge missiles.

If it's built like it's tanks we have nothing to worry about.

I find it hard to believe a person that calls submarines "ships" they're boats

That whole statement about size versus sound doesn't sound right at all.

Saw a documentary on this sub. Really neat and had a freaking swimming pool.

It was also the fastest submarine till the sea wolf, and even to this day it's still the deepest diver combat submarine at 900m, double the depth of the Sea wolf.

No Typhoons remain in service because of their ridiculous upkeep cost.

At least the Collins-class submarines were good for something 😂

One Day in the Atlantic an american Sub Commander yells to the russians over "Our Subs can dive for several Weeks" then the Russian responds "our Subs can dive for several Months". Suddenly something is coming up from the Depht and a long bearded really old Guy saying "Heil, do you have some Diesel and Bread for us?"

The Typhoon is a true masterpiece. A titan of the depths..

The Australian submarine had nothing to do with ice movement... They used shallow water

Bigger subs don't necessarily make more noise. It's all about plant noise, screws, and crews. A tourist submarine is going to be noisier than an Ohio because it is not designed to be quiet.

The Typhoon is 50 years old…and totally obsolete. This video was valid in 1980 lmao 🤣

Typhoon class submarines were absolutely amazing piece of technology, and one of the attributes was that it's so big they had a swimming pool and I think it was only for high ranking offices but they still have swimming pool in a submarine they have a lot of room to move around but we can track Soviet submarines and the typhoon class, it was followed everywhere that it went in the world try to fire one missile and you're going to get a Mark 48 torpedo from NATO
