Everyone hearing Steve Perry for the first time can't believe his voice. Magical? The 60's, 70's and 80's were magical. I'm 65 and the memories flood back in listening to these songs.

Love your reactions Britt! Steve Perry a.k.a. the Voice is the absolute GOAT. The morning coat was Steve's trademark...along with the beautiful hair. Women used to throw roses at him until they were piled as high as the drummer's kit. And Steve was the band's chick magnet; as soon as he became frontman, they came out in drovews to Journey concerts (sadly I never got to see them because they didn't come to Winnipeg). Journey was one of the originators of the power ballad. Mariah Carey covered this song. His solo work is also wonderful...Foolisg Heart. And is last hit with Journey When You Love A Woman.

"Mother Father" from this same concert (Live in Houston - 1981) will blow your mind. Two of their songs with a similar vibe as "Open Arms" are "Faithfully" and "Why Can't This Night Go On Forever."
