That's a feature from as far back as the Golf Mk3. 1994. Mine still works.

Tip. Never do this by accident when the car is frozen. It broke my sunroof before.

I thought I'd try this on my 2024 Seat Ibiza FR seeing as it is essentially just a Polo underneath and, lo and behold, it does it! Nifty little feature!

My 2012 Golf did that you could recode the central electronics control module(J519) and unlock the feature.

This is common across a lot of cars. Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Ford, GM, VW, BMW, and others all have this feature on their models.

If you have keyless entry, you can also press and hold your finger against the handle and it will do the same,

i was able to code this in on all lexus models ive seen, seems to be a really common feature
