Hi Gabe, I have been watching your minimalism journey and have been a minimalist myself for about 6 years. My entire life has changed because of it! Instead of valuing things, cars, houses, stuff, I know whats important in life! I value life itself and I am grateful for every little thing. I value my family, my time, food, my apartment. I love saving money and feeling safe and helping others. I know I can handle it if some unexpected expense comes up. I am a 64 year young woman who finally realized what life is all about and I am content. Thank you for your many years of inspiring videos! I love seeing you and your family grow. ❤

I'm someone who is not a minimalist, but shooting for "minimalish." I've decluttered 80%+ of my belongings, but where I like to have a collection is books. And, yes, Kindle, but I feel happy when I have books around me. I live alone but have dishes to serve 6-8. This choice I made because I want to have my kids home for holidays and have everyone comfortable. Other than those two categories I have scaled my stuff down to a level where my home is inviting and cozy but there is no clutter. I'm also reading "The Mountain Is You" and working on improving myself.

"Quiet Wealth" has so many advantages. In addition to shifting the focus away from unnecessary status symbols, hollow materialism and wasteful opulence, it offers some security from envy, jealousy, retribution and frivolous lawsuits.

“Comparison is the thief of joy” such a true quote. I’ve not been on social media for years and that helps with not feeling the need to to buy loads of things or have a shiner life and enjoy the simple little things

I got rid of my tv six months ago and not regretted at all. The licence fee that I was paying to the BBC I now give to the RSPCA ❤

I absolutely love what you talked about with riding the cycles of self improvement, without guilt. That's how I've always operated, becoming almost obsessive with improving a certain aspect, then fizzling out after a few days or weeks... but always with guilt at "failing" to meet my high expectations, or losing interest. I'm implementing this today!!

Ride the Wave...makes so much sense. Keeps you from feeling as though you are failing in an area....focus on one big thing at a time!

Lagom. Swedish concept of Not too little and not too much, lagom is just enough.
I like how your journey went from standard American consumerism through minimalism, perhaps too much, and have now settled down to thoughtful lagom.

I love this SO much! Especially the end. I have been just taking what life gave me for way too long. I recently quit my corporate job to stay at home with my child, and I couldn't be happier. I'm able to help support my husband's business and declutter our home. I'm learning simplicity and less is so much more. ❤

Octopuses have three hearts, but only two of them pump blood to the gills. The third heart, which pumps blood to the rest of the body, actually stops beating when the octopus swims. This is one reason why octopuses prefer crawling to swimming—it’s less taxing on their circulatory system.

I started my minimalism journey when the kids moved out. I’ve moved into a smaller home, donated, and gotten rid of lots of stuff. The only issue is my husband and his stuff, however, he’s been saying we have too much stuff 😂I think if he starts decluttering he’ll realize it’s mostly his stuff but I’ll let him come to his own conclusion😊

Popping in here to say that I have been on and off binge watching your videos and appreciate the journey of thought and tips you provide. I’ve always wondered how minimalist, productivity gurus, etc have managers to live their “perfect” lives with partners, kids, pets, etc. So this video was a nice acknowledgement that the growth we see on the internet might reduce our freedom and that we don’t grow linearly, we iterate and make improvements each round

I've never had much stuff. Since 2015, I've been actively trying to be a minimalist. 3 of us -all adults- live in a 2BR condo near Chicago. I'm 75, last year, I was gone for a month with an overnight bag and a small tote. Last month, my husband and I took a 10 day Caribbean cruise with carry-on only. I do lots of crafts, volunteer,
and we still have plenty of stuff. Tina, Al's wife

Thanks - I've been riding the waves going deep into a topic then finding a middle ground for years and never known the name for it!
