Показать описание
In this video, we are going to configure dual WAN in failover mode with mwan3 on OpenWRT Luci. All the traffic is routed to the primary WAN interface. When it is down, either physically or the internet connection is down, the traffic will be directed to the secondary WAN interface.

There are 2 required packages:
mwan3 - the core package for load balancing
luci-app-mwan3 - the package that enables configuration from Luci web interface

Video timeframe:
00:00 - Introduction and network topology
01:40 - OpenWRT switch configuration for dual WAN
02:30 - OpenWRT network interfaces overview
03:50 - Packages for multiwan configuration
04:00 - Mwan3 multiwan failover configuration
11:06 - Multiwan failover mode verification & test method
15:40 - Final words

Check out other useful tutorial:

Just wanted to say thank you for your mwan3 videos. I was able to follow along easily and thus far the two connections have flawlessly rolled over and load balanced without issue.

Thank you very much. Very informative tutorial. I hope that you can also create a four-ISP tutorial consisting of three fiber ISPs that can fail over and balance load simultaneously and in the event that all three of the Fibr connections are completely down, the fourth ISP will be triggered as a limited metered connection ISP for failover. This configuration is extremely useful for critical internet-dependent applications setups including homebased jobs and etc...

Good work! Just a correction: according to the mwan3 doc: "Members with same metric will distribute load based on this weight value". So, setting a weight of 1, 2, or any number for that matter is meaningless since it does nothing on single-member (failover, no load-balanced) policies.

Hey is this possible to set up mwan3 with iPhone usb as a backup? If so what do I need to do different? I already have most of it setup just a little stuck on the switch part because I don’t see an option for usb there.

It does do the whole fail over thing, but my secondary connection isn't allowing actually connecting. OpenWRT says that the secondary is online though...

Hello, how do you configure a client's private IP so that it connects permanently to a single wan? I remember that on Asus routers there is an option for this, but in openwrt I can't find it

Hii, Thank you for this amazing explanation. In my scenario, i have a bonded cellular connection as wan 1 and a fibre connection as wan2. i didnt configure any VLAN since i dont have a switch involved in my setup. I tried doing the failover following your steps . But after reboot, the interface configured on the multiWAN manager disappears. and there is nothing online at the end. It would be great if you could give suggestions/thoughts on it.

Thank you

hi.. been watching all of your videos and I was wondering if you can create a tutorial on MWAN rules to use IPSETS instead of destination IPs or ports?

Very good video! It would be fine if you could do a video about how to fine tune the multi wan setup. E.g. if I like to have as short time between the switch to the secondary WAN or if I like to have a load balancing multi WAN setup. There are several different tuning that can be done and I do not know how to do. So please explain!
