September is bittersweet, the weather gets colder, school's back. Nights start sooner than they previously did, outdoor fun accompanied by layers of clothing. On the positive side, there's change. And at this time of year, it's when (in my opinion) the most beautiful. The leaves changing colors, the smell of hot chocolate, with seasonal baked goods. Limited addition treats at coffee shops or your local farmer's market. The sunsets, the feeling of fall arriving. I used to think September was a pre-october blink. But now I realize it's a reminder to embrace change, even if it's scary or you want everything to stay the same. It's inevitable. To anyone who feels alone or tired, please hold on. It is worth it to keep going, you are enough <3

I went for a motorcycle ride tonight and remembered the many Septembers that I've seen come and go. On the air was the sweet and familiar smoke of a pine pallet bonfire burning somewhere in the distance. There some young kid was having his first beer and his first cigarette; his first kiss and his first heartbreak. Hard as it is to believe, I was that young kid once upon a time. No doubt some other old man was out there back then, thundering down a pothole-ridden road atop his rusty iron horse, trying to forget how his youth had once burned as brightly as gas flames.
