Well it a trick question. As in a Viking battle you would take the Viking sword. Because the other one only really started to be used once they started fighting from horseback. So it was a bit longer and a longer hand guard to keep the hand safe because of someone trying to get at you from the ground.

As a Mayan Native: I would probably go with an ax, to be honest. But the Anglo-Norman sword has an interesting guard on it. Great content! Keep it up.

Well, firstly, a sword was the weapon of a wealthy warrior. Most fighting during the Viking era, and the early Anglo Norman era was a spear and / or an axe. The sword was used much more seldom than we are led to believe. Anglo Norman swords were often used from horseback, ergo, longe blades that were designed to thrust and slash, whereas the Viking sword was designed with a broad blade to slash. Different fighting styles, different weapons. Pick the one that suits your style

Thanks for the explanation, it's very difficult to find this type of information.

Great debate. Love them both but I’m going to vote for the Anglo-Norman sword just because of its improvements in ergonomics. The upswept guard and nut shaped pommel with the tapered shoulders is much easier to manipulate and swing from every direction. Especially when wearing gloves or armor on the hand and wrist.

Where do you get your historical equipment from?

The lighter sword wins it looks sharper too and has a pointy tip.

That's a difficult decision to make. Both will lob-off your opponents head in one swoop. Both will hold your opponents head placed on the end to parade around with. Both can be used to cook a nice pork chop over a fire. Hmmm... 🤔 🗡 ?

I’d rather the Anglo Norman sword to use in battle

Bragi I'll trade you anything for that Anglo Norman sword, I'll give you my oyster card

Personally I'd grab the Viking sword.. because of the Handel and palmal .. I feel it's better for control and a palmal strike.. 🇺🇸

Vikings used low grade iron. anglos had a better alloy hence the shininess.

I like the Viking sword though i also like the more evolved Anglo Norman sword that is about adabtability. Also it turns out some historians were wrong to state that the Normans were traitors to their own loved ones as Archeologist found out the overshadowed unimportant dishonored Normans or Northmen where betrayed by god king Fro, God king Fro took the crown of christ and oppressed the North Danish Northmen who are of the only real starved homeless viking pirates that mixed with the other vikings and Celts of Britainny and the Dutch of Flanders and later all the Dutch of Netherlands and the rest of Europe resulting in 90% of Europes population being part real viking pirate after suffering from the political reign of Terror that destroyed a lovely peaceful multicultural supernatural France.
