I want to travel to different countries and I feel that speaking in their native language is great sign of respect to them

Q: Why do you want to learn Japanese language?
Literally ALL WEEBS: TO WATCH ANIME WITHOUT SUBTITLES

My reason is because I've wanted to learn other languages for a long time, I love the idea of being able to talk to more people who I would usually not be able. I hope to improve my memory and also Japanese is very beautiful and speaks to my artistic side.
(I also want to be able to listen to Japanese music without subs)

Because of the helpful illustrations and associations with the characters, I'm able to retain this info! This is great! I can read them, but I totally forget if I have to write them out.

My major reason for learning different languages is not only because its just something fun, but it reveals so much about different cultures, as a Latin-American I can see 1st-hand how our language reflects our core values (i.e. Americans tend to be more individualistic while hispanic societies are very collectivistic in nature) it's like this one old dude said that I forgot his name, when you learn a new language you gain another soul. I am not even a linguistics major lol I study biology but this is a hobby that I am very passionate about.
I want to also thank channels like Japanesepod101 who while have their optional paid plan give everyone a chance to learn so long as you put in the effort. Thank you so much for your videos that are top-tier in educational content and so easy to follow!

I want to learn a language that was alien to me. Japanese has the advantage of being both familiar (grew up on translated anime & manga) and foreign compared to languages I hear on a daily basis in London. I also plan to visit the country in the near future

"did you think it was zi?" Yes yes I did "well it's not" oh why not?... "The next character..." Oh okay then 🤣

TLDR: I love your culture, I love Japan :)
The reason why I wanted to learn Japanese in the first place was to understand anime in its original pure form. I also like the fact that the language is somewhat exotic and I can't get the picture out of my head of me understanding, speaking and reading Japanese.

I already know kana but these vids are looking great. I'd recommend people compliment this using recall methods like "drag and drop hiragana" (there is an iPhone app and a few on the web), writing from memory and even to try to write basic sentences with the characters. It'll help drill them in much faster.
