🤚🏼 Have you seen or heard these arthritis myths??

Let’s clear these up…🫣

1️⃣ Research has shown time and time again that exercise can be incredibly powerful for arthritis relief. The key is understanding that while not every exercise may feel great right now, there are many exercises that can feel good!

2️⃣ There are SO many types of activities that can be effective. Walking alone likely will not bring pain relief. Walking does not strengthen the muscles. Adding in other activities like resistance and balance training can be great for your joints.

3️⃣ “Bone on bone” sounds much scarier than it actually is. It can be possible for you to find relief, regain mobility and feel better, yes, even without surgery. There certainly is a time and place for surgery but it is not inevitable.

4️⃣ Stairs and squats are likely unavoidable in daily life. Telling someone to avoid them just creates fear and more pain sensitivity. It is possible to regain the strength to be able to do these activities with ease

5️⃣ There are many people that have osteoarthritis symptoms on an image that have NO symptoms. Others barely show symptoms and have severe pain. Imaging is very inconsistent and no decisions should be based off imaging alone- ESPECIALLY surgery. It’s so important to look at symptoms and experiences along with only using imaging as one part of the puzzle

If you’re feeling lost on your osteoarthritis journey, Keep the Adventure Alive is here to help 🩷

My hip MRI is terrible and I don't want surgery. I'm exercising and working a tough job some days are discouraging. Thank you for this video, this is definitely encouraging!! Your videos have been very helpful over the last few years of watching and implementing ❣️

My knees were really hurting, my physio lady gave me 6 exercises to do each day and the pain went away. Beats getting surgery.

At the beginning exercise is tough, but as you continue it gets easier and you feel stronger in your joints. SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE! (don't give up) thank YOU for all the knowledge you have bestowed among us❤

Was told that I have severe hip OA 2 yrs ago. My xrays show left hip joint lit up like a Christmas tree. My work at that time was extrenely physical...lots of heavy lifting, pushing, etc. My hip didnt hurt....my thigh, lateral knee would get tearing sensations constantly and were never right. That prompted my Osteo appt. I was put on lighter duty work and also received PT with mobile therapist for 2 mos (which stretched the crap out of me and made my hip start to hurt). Lets just say that I stopped the therapy that was hurting my hip, made my way back to full duty work, I walk ( also do a lot of backwards walking), lift within reason. I pull pallets of heavy product everyday at my job, as well. All with what they said was severe bone on bone hip OA. Its nothing for me to do 16-18, 000 steps a day. Always challenge myself, everyday, always moving. Your body will always let you know when its not happy with something you are doing and you will learn it. Most of all....NEVER STOP MOVING! That will never help anything, trust me.

If I don't get up and move, I get stiff ❤😅. I am 73 and need to keep it moving 💯

Love to dismiss all the yo-yo's who were obtusely superstitious over the years. The reality:
Life is movement.

I happen to know for a fact because I experienced it myself that when you go walking it forces synovial fluid into your knees which would explain pain going away if I have any to begin with. I actually believe that lack of exercise can hurt your joints more.

NR-nf1il, you are absolutely correct. Have had issues with both knees (both need replacing but im getting too old) plus arthritis and spinal stenosis in low back. Some days i barely move and really get "down". This turns into weeks and i can hardly walk around my little house. The longer you lay around, the less you can do! It becomes a vicious circle.

I’ve been told ALL of them!!! My arthritis started in 1979 so, I guess they didn’t know everything they do now? I never liked the advice I got from Dr and PT back then. I’ve been working hard for the last 10 years undoing all of the damage these myths have caused me. I guess I learned through research, trial and error. It’s taking time, but I’m getting there!! Thanks so much for all your help and I know others are benefiting and learning how to help themselves so much earlier because of what you do!!!💜

Am interested in knowing more about the worse the x-ray image is, the worse the joint is myth. I have a dreadful left knee image, as bad or worse than the right knee was prior to its replacement. Yet the left doesn't hurt nearly as much as the right knee did prior to surgery. The surgeon said, in obvious agreement with your statement of myth, "I treat people, not x-ray images." I don't, however, understand the discrepancy.

Thanks! Can you talk about weight gain and how 50 extra pounds affects arthritis pain?

It’s almost as if exercise doesn’t make any corrupt people money…

Thankfully people like you actually share useful information

Thank you thank you thank you my dear. Thank you again for showing us truth truth truth. It's really a shame that the medical profession cannot do that but I honestly don't think they know it. The medical system is filled with people who mean well but don't know what actually works with the human body and you seem to know that. Thank you for sharing the beauties of the human body and how we can work together with our bodies to make life better. Much love❤
