the deluxe with the volume half way up & then dialing a tele or strat down half way until it cleans up is the ultimate clean tone i've ever had. some people say these amps are too bright, but I notice a lot of people have their guitar volume all the way up & then dial the amp really low. this gets a pretty thin bright tone, but the other way around is heaven. you can have the treble on the amp way up & its just sparkling crystalline glass - gorgeous.

Never, ever thought of the DR as underrated. Many professional musicians have the opinion that it is the best amp Fender ever made, especially for the studio.

The most recorded Fender amp of all time can hardly be called “underrated.” They’re phenomenal, and lots of people have known that for a long time. Just about every session player in Nashville has one, and almost every recording studio in Nashville has one laying around. The Deluxe Reverb is the time-tested, versatile, workhouse amp of many pro guitarists.

My wife is opening a gymnastics facility and the other day she gave me the greenlight to setup my rig in the warehouse and rip for a little bit. Brought my vintage 1965 Deluxe Reverb and K Line Truxton, cranked it up and it was glorious. The best tone I've ever heard and some of the most fun I've ever had. These amps are really all you need and while I prefer the old vintage ones, the reissues are great too! I'll be buried with my trusty old one lol

John same here!!! Didn’t play one till I was 36 and was blown away. It’s my main amp. Got a Weber speaker.

It’s probably the best selling tube amp of all time, so I’m not sure you could say it’s underrated.

It is the amp of choice in the studio and in clubs. Where I live it is almost all you see in the clubs and bars (pubs). It has been like that since the 1960's.

I will recommend you to listen to Keith's 5watt world friend psionic audio that repairs amplifiers. He has a whole episode on "The Issue with the 65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue". He said if you but it brand new, save up some money and have your tech upgrade certain parts. He said it will fix the problem and you should not have those issues anymore.

Love the hair cut! I'm surprised that you hadn't owned a Deluxe Reverb until now. Deluxe Reverb + Strat is such a classic pairing, that I assumed you had outgrown it and was looking for tones beyond it. Have you explored the Twin Reverb, too? It's such a common high-headroom amp heavily used among jazz players that I assume you've spent some time with them.

Underrated for many years yes but it was one of the first to get reissued and those amps are a staple for touring musicians needing a rental all over the world. I’ve had 3 - all different but all in that same range. My main amp is a 76 but I use a TMDR for live stuff in the 5 watt setting mostly. Great amps in any of the variations.

Mine just blew up. A day or two before every room in my house flooded. Anyway while I try and repair the house and save equipment, I thought I would share that I'm a speaker junky and have designed and built lots of hifi speakers but swap out guitar speakers all the time, and I tried everything under the sun in my reissue just like this one. The stock C12K is the best option, just break it in. I promise, you can save thousands of dollars and a year of your time by just believing me lol I pair mine with a maz18. I love them both in isolation, but together they are unbelievable.

Played a reissue exclusively or 20-years or so... Now, the reissue is gone and I'm loving my Blonde Deluxe Tone Master. Oh yeah-- no noise issues at all with the TM ;) Great video!

I love my Fender DRRI. Sounds amazing. It’s tough to find a better amp for the money

I got one this year. First tube amp and will probably never leave my collection. Planning on getting another one to play in stereo

I wonder how you think it compares to your old Pro Reverb?

There’s nothing like a clean Fender amp.

All of the modern Fender reissue and Hot Rod amps use cheap filter and bypass electrolytic capacitors as others have said. Get them done early and these can be incredibly reliable for a long time. Noise could be caps going or a preamp valve/tube going. I forget which of these series has it but the tube heater supplies are a quick connect on the pcb and can overheat. Have a tech take a look at it and they can get it sorted. Psionic Audio and Brad's Guitar Garage have several videos on their channels speaking about the common issues with these. Nothing insurmountable to make them rock solid, and also sky's the limit for modding. I think they sound stellar, I bought an Imperial Mk2 as my foray into the deluxe reverb

I’ve had mine for 15 years, it’s been great with the exception of an annoying cab rattle! I love my Blonde TM DR as well!

I've recently acquired a MK IV Hotrod Deluxe and it is brilliant. Three switchable channels - all usable. takes pedals well - Loud as but can be tamed with a send return attenuator. I run ALL effects to the front so it works so well for me. Great gigging amp TBH and the MK IV is a country mile ahead of the previous 3 version.

For years, I assumed a Princeton was close enough that I didn't need a Deluxe Reverb. Finally broke down and got the Deluxe and wow, it really delivers some magic that not even a Princeton can achieve.
