Bro given your game knowledge and willingness to innovate I keep hoping to hear that you’re slotted into a shot caller/coach position. You would find some of the most interesting team comps in the world and make a ton of matches a lot more interesting

It's sad but I think you are still enjoying your life now, not too much pressure you know. Everyone have to prioritize their academic instead of lol. I think tournament for fun can compensate for the lost of your interest in the game. Looking forward to that

Same happened to me in dota, when I was 15 I was 1st on dotalicious and 16 I was top 200 eu in dota 2, but teams just kept falling apart ober random stuff, and I never got to play anything really big. I did make around 12k euros throughout my “career” through random lan and online tournament, so that’s always something

That’s the reality of most people who try to go pro. Glad you gave it a shot!

It will always be who you know, not what you know unless you are a once in a generation genius and even then you're competing against 20 other people who are smart/good enough that the average person can't tell the difference.

Faker will forever be the GOAT, but there's been plenty of players in every role who have shown they are on equal footing at one stage or another in terms of pure skill and dominance, at this point Faker is more of a name rather than a player, I have to assume there are more Faker fans than SKT fans. Chinese orgs offered tens of millions because they knew they'd make even more just by having him on their team, regardless of whether he won them tournaments (Faker lost international tournaments with his current roster, good luck in a multi-lingual team with no synergy).

Knowing people doesn't automatically get you into GenG, but your friend knows a coach/owner who is looking for a sub for mid laner on a mid tier team or there's a spot in an academy team, and suddenly you've just jumped the queue of 10+ other mid laners who may be better than you, simply because you knew a guy who knows a guy. There's an entire ladder of challenger players, even the people hitting rank 1 aren't that special when all their time goes into grinding soloQ, plenty of pro's can and do hit rank 1, but they're normally too busy being pro players instead of 24/7 soloQ players.

People really should pay attention to the connections part, that works for every segment of your life, not only gaming, rarely someone can achieve things without knowing the right people

Leaving a (most likely short and unsiccessful) pro career to go to umiversity is the smartest move for like 99.9% of people

Ahh I remember that time, I was top 20 in season 1, 2, 3, 4& 5 but sincerly solo queue & pro play was so tragic that being constant 65+% winrate wasn't even fun anymore.
The game isn't tailored to teamplay, it's too egotistical. People copy meta's and don't know how to itemize anymore, even in pro play current season.

Is shot caller the equivalent to a point guard on the court? Or is it more like a sideline coach off the field sideline. Or is it just a general term people throw around?

Would you want to play pro if you could, now? It seems like you enjoy what you’re doing now, and from what I’ve seen from a lot of pro players, pro play is incredibly stressful and only rarely fun.
